Possible images edit

Ssilvers, first thank you for your helpful edits to this article. Second, the Library of Congress has several images of historic sheet music for the song at this url: https://www.loc.gov/resource/ihas.100007901.0/?sp=1 I know that we often are able to use images from the LOC, but copyright and fair use is not my area of expertise. Perhaps you have some experience in this area? Best.4meter4 (talk) 23:16, 24 May 2022 (UTC)Reply

There is also an audio recording (see here: https://www.loc.gov/item/jukebox-132216/ ) and some Broadway posters (see here: https://www.loc.gov/search/?in=&q=hitchy+koo&new=true). Best.4meter4 (talk) 23:20, 24 May 2022 (UTC)Reply
The sheet music, covers and posters for the song and all the revues are in the public domain, so we can use the images on Wikipedia articles. Audio recordings may not be in the public domain, and you would need to ask someone with more expertise there. -- Ssilvers (talk) 04:11, 25 May 2022 (UTC)Reply
  • Rosiestep, I notice that you created the page for Hitchy-Koo in Wiki Commons in 2019 and were responsible for loading some of the images associated with the musical revue. Would you mind uploading some of these images for the 1912 song (for which the musical revues are eponymously named/ inspired by) as well to commons? Also, I'm not sure the commons page should focus so much on Cole Porter, as other important composers like Jerome Kern and E. Ray Goetz were equally active in creating music for these revues in other years. Thanks.4meter4 (talk) 12:46, 25 May 2022 (UTC)Reply
Hi, 4meter4. I think you're referring to this category: c:Category:Hitchy-Koo? I created the category as I saw some images associated with the topic. If you believe there should be subcategories, e.g., by year, by all means, please create them. If you are aware of additional files which could be uploaded to WikiCommons, that would be great, and just go for it. I've never uploaded LOC images to WikiCommons so if that's what you're requesting, maybe ask a WikiCommons Admin for help if you need it? Sorry that this isn't my area of forte. --Rosiestep (talk) 13:16, 25 May 2022 (UTC)Reply
No problem, and thanks for the suggestion as to how to proceed.4meter4 (talk) 15:30, 25 May 2022 (UTC)Reply
