Stop Pushing Points of View edit

This article is riddled with personal opinion. Very few of its claims that need documentation have documentation. I propose wholesale deletions. Please remember this is an encylcopedia, not an editiorial site. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Bsharvy (talkcontribs) 09:41, 10 April 2007 (UTC).Reply

For example, this has no place in an encyclopedia: "The following year, the team landed the number 1 pick in the NBA Draft, but squandered it on LaRue Martin, a player who was a complete bust in the NBA." Bsharvy

Neutrality edit

I edited out most of what I considered to be POV pushing and subjective statements. I think the Neutrality warning template can be removed. (But, I think the article should be shortened some more, and merged with the aticle on the Trail Blazers). —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Bsharvy (talkcontribs) 12:13, 30 April 2007 (UTC).Reply

Much of history is written by a particular point of view. Usually it is by the side that considers itself a victor or conqueror. In this case Portland makes many poor decisions with its assets and gets taken advantage of by the media in general because no one respects the franchise because if it is wronged who is going to complain? the Oregonian? who cares what the Oregonian has to say back east or anywhere else in the country and the blazers are treated in the same manner. Case in point is Tim Duncan laughing at the officials. Many of the referees for years had ongoing cases with the Blazer players nothing at the suspension level ever took place. Why because San Antonio is considered a bigger market and the loss of the franchise there would be a black mark on the NBA because it has ran out of talent because of the players more modern behavioral problems. Back in the 80's and 90's not so is the case because talent is aplenty, so who cares what Portland thinks. However now things have gotten so bad that they need Portland and Seattle to improve thier level of play to increase competition. Is it any wonder that they recieved ROY and the first lottery pick with Seattle right behind them? It defys all odds unless you look at it from the point of view of business. Vince Carter hadn't done anything at all in the NBA and he was on a weekend NBC game the second year of his career. Portland went all the way to the finals against Detroit and still couldn't get on NBC.. Its about money and popularity. If it was about true ability Denver, Atlanta, and Minnesota would have won championships by now just out of sure chance and teamwok. Basketball is the most team work oriented game other than football. its about business money and popularity. who sells T shirts and bumper stickers. If it wasn't true people wouldn't pay more to advertise on TV or in the Newspapers next to the sports sections or during the playoffs.

Points edit

#1 In response to the unsigned "POV" point above, "Mr. Madison, what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points and may God have mercy on your soul." Portland is a larger TV market than San Antonio, and that's the closest thing to a point the author makes.

#2 I tried to improve the article, but, after a little research, most, if not all of it, appears to be directly lifted from a fan's website article on the history of the team without cite. I agree with Bsharvy that the serviceable parts need to be integrated with the main Portland Trail Blazers article and the page eliminated.Wilkyisdashiznit (talk) 20:48, 18 April 2009 (UTC)Reply

Stops at 2012 season edit

Needs the last 3 years' worth of history added at the end. The 2012-13, 2013-14, 2014-15 seasons and the partial 2015-16 current season to be up-to-date. Says nothing about the Lillard-McCollum-Batum-Aldridge-Lopez team (with Matthews, Crabbe and Leonard as backups), the heavily-criticized trades that broke up that team, the well-known Aldridge move, or the new roster of young players currently surrounding Damian Lillard. Let's clean this article up and add all this information. Wufan10304 (talk) 22:32, 29 December 2015 (UTC)Reply
