I thought Hires Root Beer had been replaced with Mug Root Beer. Was this only in certain regions?
I don't think there is any connection between them. If they are the same thing, than my memory must be overestimating how good Hires was.--RLent (talk) 05:54, 29 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Charles Elmer Hires really did 'go to town' on advertising. I came accross an advertisement placed in the first issue of The Independent in Honolulu printed in 1895. It's an interestingly large ad., here, and was promoting 'Hire's Improved Rootbeer'. The article states that Charles was an 'aggressive' advertiser.
