I thought Hires Root Beer had been replaced with Mug Root Beer. Was this only in certain regions?

Charles Elmer Hires really did 'go to town' on advertising. I came accross an advertisement placed in the first issue of The Independent in Honolulu printed in 1895. It's an interestingly large ad., here, and was promoting 'Hire's Improved Rootbeer'. The article states that Charles was an 'aggressive' advertiser.
