Untitled edit

Hi, my name is Rachel Lewis, or "Doctor Lewis" as more commonly called by "Rev" Lennox Yearwood. I have been following and/or directly involved with voter outreach to the hip-hop community for over five years.

I recently made edits to the Hip Hop Caucus wiki. These edits were aimed at:

1. providing additional context 2. updating the wiki to reflect the most recent voter outreach campaign, "Respect My Vote" 3. adding citations

For future editors of this page, I would suggest the aforementioned be the driving force behind any changes or additions made to this page.

If anyone wishes to contact me, I am adding this page to my watchlist and will be more than happy to talk about any questions, suggestions or issues you may have with this wiki.

Tone edit

The subject of this article appears to be notable, but the tone appears to be somewhat promotional in nature. Also, much of the article (specifically, the third paragraph) contains very little actual information about the subject, and is ostensibly a coatrack about the 2004/2008 elections, voter demographics, etc. Some of the sources do not even mention the Hip Hop Caucus; for example, the statement Respect My Vote successfully empowered and delivered more young voters from the hip-hop community, building on gains seen in 2004 and 2006 is completely unsupported. Yes, certain demographics did show growth in turnout, but nothing in the source provided indicates that the subject of the article is responsible for said growth. --Kinu t/c 15:56, 20 October 2010 (UTC)Reply

Agreed. I've tried to edit to make it a bit less WP:PROMO. More cites are needed though, and there are still claims made per WP:No original research and WP:Synthesis for the group's role in several events and political changes, which are not adequately supported out by the sources cited. More WP:Secondary, independent, WP:Reliable sources are needed: YouTube, for example, is not a reliable source. Top Jim (talk) 05:54, 21 October 2010 (UTC)Reply
