editThis edit removed info about Hyland from Hyland Highway which does not appear to have been incorporated in this article. As I'm notionally on a wikibreak at the moment, I can't devote the time to validate and integrate it now. Perhaps someone else can.

- The highway was named after the deceased Sir Herbert Hyland, a well known man throughout Gippsland. He was a politician, holding a seat for the Country Party (now the National Party of Australia) for 41 years (1929-70). He was leader of the Country party from 1955-1964, and held a number of ministerial positions between 1936-1952, including that of Minister of Transport. In this role, he drove the famous H220 steam engine, Heavy Harry, on its "Maiden Voyage". H220 is currently in a museum in Williamstown, Victoria.
- Sir Herbert was known as a true "Honest Politician", and had a true passion for his job. After proving himself to be a worthy member of society, Mr. Hyland was knighted by the Queen.
