Source for illegitimate children edit

Does anyone know where the illegitimate children came from? There is no source given for them and I've looked all over online and there is no further mention of his family is he even had any.

This Google Book search returns several hits "Caroline Medkaff", of which this one The converse of the pen: acts of intimacy in the eighteenth-century familiar ... by Bruce Redford page 183 is probably the most useful to answer your question.
