This page is full of falsehoods and misrepresentations. As an example:

In the mid-1970s, the burgeoning Angolan Civil War between the pro-Soviet MPLA and the anticommunist UNITA factions, drew the attention of the South African government, which feared growing Soviet infiltration in the region.

It is well known that the reason for South Africa's involvement in Angola is the fact that SWAPO/PLAN used Angola as a base for its insurgency (no other reason). In the end, the latter option was chosen, and the South African intervention ended in a fiasco, when South African forces, in sight of the Angolan capital, were repulsed by a fresh influx of Cuban troops. The United States, which had covertly backed the operation, was forced to withdraw its support when Congress vetoed the Ford Administration's request for funding for UNITA; as a result, South Africa was forced to withdraw in humiliation.[6]

South Africa never tried to take over Luanda. The author of this steaming pile of sh*t is probably referring to Cuito. This however started as an MPLA advance that was repulsed. South Africa did repel this advance and destroyed the airfield. This ensured that the Southern part of Angola was controlled by Unita (thus preventing SWAPO from using it). —Preceding unsigned comment added by 41.17.197.129 (talk) 06:08, 21 November 2009 (UTC)Reply

Full of falsehoods?

the comment above by the angry man of probably boerish descent with a pro-apartheid state of mind is unnecessary! he should just accept the historical fact that the south african apartheids wehrmacht (sadf/weermag) despite the fact it was the most modern and powerful military force on the african continent and despite they were fighting against a poor 3rd world country (causing so massive destruction making it almost a 4th world country) was not able to completely defeat the progressive people of angola! historical revisionism by the perpetrators of terror and human rights violations should not be accepted on wikipedia!

You do realize that the fact that Angola has been a puppet of Cuba and the communist bloc renders your description of it as "progressive" null and void, and that people who accept this fact don't necessarily endorse apartheid, don't you? ----DanTD (talk) 14:44, 13 February 2010 (UTC)Reply

The assertion that South Africans were 'repulsed' by fresh Cuban troops in front of Luanda is completely false !!! World opinion in the post-colonial era would not tolerate white soldiers in the streets of another African capital. America pressured SA to withdraw it's troops to avoid any embarassment. 202.124.72.179 (talk) 14:36, 4 April 2010 (UTC)Reply
