If Ord-Hume is right, what you have here is for the Gadfly I. He gives two data sets, one for what he calls the prototype, without wing tip rotatory ailerons, the other for "production machine" with them (he doesn't use the I, II, III notation). The span of the former, Gadfly I in Jackson's notation, is 25 ft 0 in according to OH (AJJ1960 says 25ft 10 in) But the span of the Gadfly II must be bigger, with the ailerons and OH says 27 ft 2 in. 13 in per oyster sounds about right. The Gadfly II is a little heavier (472 lb rather than 455 lb) the wing area is slightly up (as you'd expect) from 108 to 110 sq ft (i.e. about 1 sq ft per oyster) and the max speed down from 92 to 88 mph.TSRL (talk) 17:39, 15 November 2009 (UTC)Reply

On the span (25 ft 0 in or 25 ft 10 in) without rotary ailerons, this ad

http://www.flightglobal.com/pdfarchive/view/1929/1929-1%20-%200469.html says 25 ft (not 25 ft 10 in) but shows the Gadfly II. It also gives the 92 mph that OH associates with the Gadfly I. Not trustworthy, entirely, but suggests maybe 25 ft 0 in is right for Gadfly I.TSRL (talk) 18:03, 15 November 2009 (UTC)Reply

There's also this article http://www.flightglobal.com/pdfarchive/view/1929/1929-1%20-%200174.html On p.611, diagram, span 26' 1". On p.612, a span of 25' (as OH, Gad I); wing area 110 sq ft (as OH Gad II). Not a helpful third opinion!TSRL (talk) 18:25, 15 November 2009 (UTC)Reply
