This is a first draft of a page for a very important organization in Greece, which in a few years of operation has contributed significantly to societal issues. It has mobilized scientists from across the country and launched prestigious awards to encourage contributions towards meaningful social transformations. Greece needs today the society more than ever, because it offers the social and scientific space for deliberations in the search of solutions to the country's serious financial problems. Time is needed for a page to be developed, and speedy deletion will not always serve Wikipedia, especially when those that need to provide and edit information are busy and successful academic and science entrepreneurs. The President of the Society has been requested to provide the necessary permission for the use of the "copyrighted" material or provide alternative text. Almost every country has a page presenting its national society for systemic studies and I guess Greece has that right too; especially when one considers the fact that the actual science finds roots in the minds of Greek philosophers. My suggestion would be to allow time for stakeholders to provide references and proofs that meet wikipedia high standards. Futuristas (talk) 14:52, 24 February 2011 (UTC)Reply

The Society has honored about a number of world authorities for their contributions is systems science. If the page is deleted, already existing links will be lost and links to the rest of the scientists who have not been linked yet, will be impossible. In consultation with the President of the Society, the text that has been considered as violating copyrights (being taken from the Society's webpage) has been completely changed. his should in principle remove the copyright infringement. Thodorakis (talk) 15:59, 24 February 2011 (UTC)Reply

The changes made to the text are a "close paraphrase" which is not sufficient to avoid the copyright problem, see WP:PARAPHRASE. The text can't just be reworded, it has to be rewritten from the ground up. It doesn't make any difference if you are the copyright holder or if its use here is totally legal, Wikipedia policy prohibits its use here unless you follow one of the processes here. Please note, however, that doing so allows anyone in the world to use your online material, not just Wikipedia. There is no other way (at least none that Wikipedia will accept) to give permission in a way that only Wikipedia, but no one else, can use your material.
You've asked for more time to work on this article. Whether or not you will get it is entirely in the hands of each administrator who happens to take a look at the article in response to the deletion request. There is no Wikipedia policy or guideline which requires them to give any extra time to you and, indeed, there is a strongly-expressed opinion that asking for additional time should be avoided (see the third bullet point). One admin may see your request and do nothing, but the next one that comes along may ignore your request and delete your article without hesitation. There are some templates which you can use to say that you're actively working on the page and need some grace: {{new page}}, {{in creation}}, {{under construction}}, {{in use}} (and maybe some others that I don't know about) but before using them you need to read their text and their documentation very carefully. More importantly, however, you should note that these templates request only a few hours grace, so you can't expect them to help you overnight or for a period of days. If you need that much time — and frankly if you need any time at all — you might consider userfying or incubating this article. Doing so will remove the article from the area where Wikipedia keeps its articles (the "main namespace", but more commonly called the "article namespace" or the "mainspace") and into either your own userspace (that's userfication) or into the Article Incubator's space. Either way, the article will not be subject to quick deletion for lack of sources or lack of notability (it still cannot, however, be unconditionally promotional and it still cannot contain Wikipedia copyright policy violations [which are different from copyright law violations], unsourced information about living persons [especially, but not only, negative information], or vandalism).

Dear TransporterMan, your time and extensive effort in helping us understand how Wikipedia works is greatly appreciated. Now I see why Wikipedia is so successful. I have contacted the President of the Organization and kindly requested he sends the necessary confirmations. Thodorakis (talk) 17:28, 24 February 2011 (UTC)Reply
