"It is the only synagogue in the county with its own mikvah." This is a very interesting fact, specifically what got this synagogue in the Did You Know column. Pardon me asking: How many synagogues does Sullivan County have ?? Deep Atlantic Blue (talk) 17:34, 24 April 2009 (UTC)Reply

Quite a few ... I'll be adding more in the next few days. Sullivan County has a large Orthodox Jewish population that gets even bigger in the summer. Daniel Case (talk) 12:49, 25 April 2009 (UTC)Reply

Except this isn't the only synagogue with a Mikveh in the county. The one in Woodridge has one as well -Har Sinai Region Product

You mean Ohave Shalom Synagogue? Yeah, I noticed the NRHP application for it (written by the same woman, as a matter of fact) mentions that a house across the street was donated to the synagogue and partially converted into a mikvah as well. Perhaps Mountaindale's would be better clarified as the only one with a mikvah on the same lot. Daniel Case (talk) 16:44, 29 April 2009 (UTC)Reply

That's the one. The house across the street used to be the "winter synagogue" back in the day, as there were not enough congregants to justify the heating bills for the larger building. The larger synagogue was only used for when the summer crowd was around. It was being used for services as recently as 2000.

There are also additional local synagogue's with mikvaot. I would have to research further, but it wouldn't count for Wiki as it would be original research.

What is the source for the Mikveh claim? - -Har Sinai Region Product —Preceding unsigned comment added by 208.28.117.34 (talk) 19:22, 4 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

The NRHP nomination for the synagogue. It's in the article as a footnote, and can be read online with JavaScript. Daniel Case (talk) 05:09, 6 September 2009 (UTC)Reply
