Trivia edit edit

"In particular, many fans found it disappointing that the girls from Save the Homeland, Gwen, Dia, Lyla, Katie, and Gina, whom could not be wed in the previous game, could not be married in this game either." Who the heck wrote this? You can marry all of these girls! I edited it to remove this. Isn't the rest of that Trivia note just opinion anyway? - ABC —Preceding unsigned comment added by 204.10.46.254 (talk) 17:02, 18 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Charts & Grammar edit

If your going to add something to the charts, please fix them accordingly and alphabetically. As for grammar, words such as "you" should not be used, as this is NOT encyclopedic. Lord Falcon 01:30, 3 April 2006 (UTC) :For that matter, most of these charts shouldn't be here. If you have time and a reasonably good description of the characters for instance, please change them into lists as it is more encyclopedic.--Niroht 16:01, 24 September 2006 (UTC) Charts removed. Have a nice day. --Niroht 21:15, 24 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

Off-Site Links edit

I don't mean to sound mean or anything, however I find it very annoying when someone suggests that my general intelligence is worse than their own based on my lack on interest on a particular subject.

The question is wether or not the four links to off site Harvest Moon fan sites should be included. My arguement is simple. The official site provides nothing. Furthermore, IGN, which is in no way an expert on Harvest Moon, is apparently fine. It is my opinion that the lack of information from those two sources, which may on the outside seem more official, justifies the inclusion of the fan sites. Now, if people would like to discuss which particular fansites should be allowed then, by all means, state your opinion, however I plan on reverting the page so that it includes those links unless Jedi can provide a logical explaination as to why they do not serve a useful and unique purpose. Thank you, and goodnight. Vjasper 05:30, 5 April 2006 (UTC)Reply

According to Wikipedia:External links external links should be kept as a minimum and fan sites should only be used when it is large and an integral part of the topic. Jedi6-(need help?) 05:39, 5 April 2006 (UTC)Reply
"adding a certain number of relevant external links is of valuable service to our readers.", "On articles about topics with many fansites, including a link to one major fansite is appropriate,". I think that about does it. I would also like to mention that if we fail to include any link to a fansite, seeing as the situation merrits one, we would be doing a diservice to our readers, thus I would like to encourage a quick debate. Vjasper 05:52, 5 April 2006 (UTC)Reply
Adding on to this debate, I would like to point out that three screenshots were used from a fansite without so much as giving credit. I understand that fansites may not deem worthy of off-site links, but I think credit should be given atleast. You can check a lot of shows (Yes, Dear for example) which have TV.com as a source. Shouldn't fansites who are being used as a 'source' atleast be given a link? (For the time being, I have removed those screeenshots.) 72.137.39.182 05:20, 20 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

Check Jamie Facts edit

I noticed that in one section it states that the game ends if you marry Jamie. After this, I went searching other websites to try to find some evidence of this or why it happens. This is the only site that mentions that, and as neither of the two external links seem to offer a citation of that fact, could someone double-check it? It really doesn't sound right considering the plot of the game. clevomon 20:07, 3 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

The Fact is true, If The Player chooses to marry Jamie, The will end. You will just be shown a cutscene of what happens to your family and the village but you cannot continue your game. Here is a site that tells, what I just said. Here's the site: http://www.sonophax.net/ht/?file=rival&s=soh 00Goldeneye 20:43, 2 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

I married Jamie as a male character quite a few times (even though the screenshot I added is NOT mine). (SPOILERS!) If you choose to marry Jamie, you get a very special (and VERY nice) wedding that takes place at the Harvest Goddess Spring, and it is the Harvest Goddess that marries you two. After the lovely wedding scene, you get certain cutscenes depending on what kind of stuff you did before marrying Jamie (such as winning the cow festival, sheep festival, and so on). VERY nice. However the game DOES NOT END. The game will actually go back to wherever you last saved before marrying Jamie.SilentWind 21:57, 1 October 2006 (UTC)SilentWindReply

This was stated that the game does not end. it continues no matter who you marry. this should be included into the infromation to clear up confusion! once again the game does not end! take it from someone that has acctually played the game (and there are many here) also all reliable game sites state that nomatter who you marry the game does not end. I dont know if this comment is considered a POV but im acctually stating facts and I tried my best to stay away from a POV comment Maverick423 19:54, 12 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

FAQ-ish edit

This article seems very much like a FAQ or walkthrough. I would try to fix some of it, but I'm currently playing the game and don't want to spoil any of it, in addition I'm not sure the best way to fix it. Could someone look into this?--Niroht 23:06, 17 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

I'd second that, whilst at first glance everything seemed hunky-dory, it seems every heading has some sort of game guide material. Once I get my wikilegs I'd like to try editting this article, particularly since users have already laid down all the framework. QuagmireDog 14:05, 13 July 2006 (UTC)Reply
There's been no activity here for a month (bar the above two comments here on the talk page), bearing that in mind, I'm going to start some gameguide trimming and later hope to find some more material to replace it. I'm not going to touch the character table, but the list of notes for instance is blatant strategy guide. QuagmireDog 20:12, 26 July 2006 (UTC)Reply
My mistake, other contributors are indeed active. I've removed the two most obvious (IMHO) examples of game guide material from the article - the list of requirements for the 100 notes and the controls list from the gameplay heading. These are both covered in WP:NOT under 'Wikipedia is not an indiscriminate collection of information' section 8, as are several other parts of the article which I hope to edit at a later point. Then I've transplanted a paragraph from the article opening and added it to the gameplay heading, rewriting to try and at least put some gameplay info under the heading. I'd really like feedback from other contributors before doing much else - I moved the heading 'musical notes' into the main body of the article for later editting because it was under character list and looked wrong there. QuagmireDog 21:27, 26 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

I've now added a little text to the 'musical notes' section so that it doesn't look so barren (there were just one or two sentences which were game-guide anyway). In doing so I've hopefully cleaned up after my previous edits and left the article in such a way as it doesn't look odd (that's not to say the text is particularly brilliant, just that it at least pertains to the section). I'm standing back now and waiting for feedback before proceeding further. QuagmireDog 14:11, 27 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

Good job with the notes bit, and thanks. I prefer to beat the game on my own so having this article say everything prevents me from editing it. Also very FAQ-ish, though, are the charts of characters and animals, what they're like, etc. That needs to be trimmed into a single list of characters with short descriptions. Additionally I'm almost entirely certain the the entire image gallery thing at the end has to go. Again, good work. --Niroht 21:57, 30 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

Thanks :) I'm working on the Harvest Moon: Back to Nature article ATM, but I'll be transwikiing the game guide material from that to the strategy wiki. Hopefully the experience will enable me to do something similar here, preserving the game guide info without letting it act as a magnet for more of the same. QuagmireDog 10:24, 4 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

This article wasn`t that faqish a month ago.Someone added so much spoiler content we could post this article on gamefaqs. Before I start deleting faqish stuff next month i need someone to tell me what not to mess with.I don`t want to start an edit war.--Purelyrandom 17:29, 11 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Remove anything that gives hints, tells you what people like unless it's important to the character, any lists of vegetables etc. and how best to grow them, stuff like that. You don't need to worry about what to keep really, someone will replace it if it's important. --Niroht | Smoke signals 00:17, 12 October 2007 (UTC)Reply
Ok I`ve made a few changes like deleting spoilers like what`s at the bottom of the caves. If anone has a problem with this go ahead and say it.(unless youre a n00b) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Purelyrandom (talkcontribs) 20:36, 12 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Removing Sheep gift image? edit

The image of a freebie to those who pre-rdered the game does not heklp the article at all... I'm gonna remove it if noone/not enough people object. Abby724 01:14, 13 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

For removing the image-

How about moving it to the Trivia section? — Laserion 13:39, 6 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

  • Oppose, it's a nice little piece of trivia which isn't hurting anything at this point in time. Almost the entire article consists of game-guide material, upon removal there'd be nothing left but a stub. With the article in this much of a state I wouldn't consider it to be a priority. QuagmireDog 05:06, 24 September 2006 (UTC)Reply
  • I'd say move it to trivia. It's not part of the gameplay. It doesn't belong where it is. The fact that this article would be a stub without walkthrough material is irrelevant.--Niroht 16:04, 24 September 2006 (UTC)Reply
Moved to trivia, for reasons given. Huzzah the article is less awful. --Niroht 21:16, 24 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

Baby/Pregnancy edit

Shouldn't there be a part about when you/your wife gets pregnant, and the resulting child?

Sure. Why don't you write it, since I'm a bit more concerned with the amount of walkthrough material what needs removing at the moment. Be Bold!--Niroht 16:05, 24 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

I already went ahead and did the honors. SilentWind 16:15, 5 October 2006 (UTC)SilentWindReply

Characters edit

I just went through and removed the characters table, turning it into a list of characters with short descriptions. Some of the need expanding, though, especially Meryl. Please expand any that you can. --Niroht 21:57, 24 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

Good job. Between then (when I first stumbled here after joining WP) and now I've mostly been working on the RuneScape series of articles. It hasn't taken long to establish that keeping unsuitable material just encourages others to add more of the same, resulting in more time eventually wasted when it gets cut back. So hats off to you. QuagmireDog 14:48, 25 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

Darnit. I'd really really really really appreciate if you put the table back. Wikipedia used to be my all-time guide to Harvest Moon, but now it is no longer because you took away the part where it said what the character likes and where it can be found. =( Sorry, I don't mean to sound n00bish, but please, I really depend on Wikipedia for helpful info.

Sorry, Wikipedia is not an FAQ. Feel free to use a dedicated gaming wiki or www.gamefaqs.com for that information. --Niroht 02:52, 4 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

Well, thanks for your help anyway. I suppose you're right, =D

The "Seasons" Section edit

I fixed the Seasons section as well as I could. Fixed up some major errors, typos and poorly written sentances. SilentWind 19:56, 1 October 2006 (UTC)SilentWindReply

I also fixed the places where the word "you" was used. Everyone, when you are editing articles like this please do not use the word "you". Help keep the quality of this article polished. SilentWind 16:56, 5 October 2006 (UTC)SilentWindReply

Thanks for that. What with the table I had to get rid of and other articles and such I haven't been able to get the grammar. Inappropriate person alone tends to spread like a plague in this article....--Niroht 23:43, 5 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

Grr! Anonymous (IP) people keep adding senseless, confusing or unnecessary paragraphs or sentances SilentWind 21:59, 15 October 2006 (UTC)SilentWindReply

UK release. edit

Does anyone know when this will be released in the UK? Surely not 2007.-user:EEVEE103

No one has answered my question, so I will assume november 2006 or december 2006. user:EEVEE103

Goodness knows, it keeps getting put back. Either they're having trouble localizing it or they might even be holding back till the Wii is released early December - effectively letting the game run on two systems at the time of release. 86.142.194.72 15:52, 24 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

the nintendo official magazine has now said january, but releasing it near the wii launch date, like you said, would be a good idea...-user:EEVEE103

Its due for release on October 19 2007 on Wii JohnnyWestlake 22:10, 7 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Now Rising Star says that they're going to release it on the 14th of March, 2008. Apparently Nintendo wouldn't release some code that they needed, or something. WorMzy (talk) 10:11, 11 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

Wedding with Jamie photo edit

Well, this is the best of four photos I have found on the entire Internet of Jamie's wedding. I wonder why there are only four? Anyway, sorry about the very poor quality of the photo. I have yet to locate a screenshot of Jamie's wedding with Jamie being the male and your character being a female. Hopefully, if I do, it will be much better quality... SilentWind 19:49, 4 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

isnt there a photo that has small screenshots merged into one giant photo of all the weddings? i could of sworn i saw it wouldnt this photo suit the marrage area better? Maverick423 18:07, 6 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

Hi! I've pretty much videotaped every cutscene imaginable in HM:MM because I'm that insane, and that includes the wedding with Jamie (as a female - so Jamie is male here). There's a pretty good picture within it that would work for the article if it's still needed, but... I have no Photobucket account or anything of the like, nor even understand how to flippin' PRTSCRN on Windows Media Player to make the image get correctly onto Paint or something. x_X Before I wrack my brain trying to figure it out, is a new picture still necessary? Oh, and... I've never seen any collage of weddings, except for rival wedding pictures - and that couldn't work because rivals DON'T get married in the English version... Citations and Improvements edit

A while ago, I tried to go through the article and improve it as best I could, and would love to try to continue working on it. ^_^

What kinds of citations are needed - how do you prove something like not having a home rating system besides by playing the game? Or does it need a citation that Animal Crossing does have a rating system?

And what way is there to go about making it sound less FAQ-ish? When do details get too in-depth and not necessary for non-players? Telling what's available in each season? Specific goals like Power Berries? Lists of animals?

And is it necessary to talk about festivals in the article? There's nothing on them now, just wondering if there should be.

Thanks, Toadette Fan 01:25, 2 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

I deleted the info specifically about Kurt, his hangouts and likes and stuff for "if you're hooked on" him. Is that what is meant by too FAQ-ish, or is there more than needs to be fixed? And about the description of every musical note - it's rather specific, isn't it? I thought information that only players would be interested in is considered too FAQ-y, and I'm sure non-fans wouldn't need such an in-depth list... and this one actually looks like it was copy/pasted directly from a game guide... Toadette Fan 20:41, 14 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Jamie's gender? edit

The article says Jamie "is always a girl no matter the gender of the player." I thought Jamie's gender was always the opposite of the player's, hence the androgynous name, hair style, etc? NightMaj 02:31, 3 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

You're right, Jamies gender is always the opposite to the player. WorMzy (talk) 10:12, 11 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

Character Origins edit

I removed the discouraged trivia section and attempted to put the information on what game the characters came from inside the article. However, are character origins necessary for the Character section, as in, stating in which game a character first appeared? What important information should the character bios be restricted to? Toadette Fan (talk) 20:23, 31 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

Yes As s/he said above Jamie's gender is opposite no matter what. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Draco pupgirl (talkcontribs) 00:34, 12 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

Citations and Reception edit

Okay, so I've been looking through some good and featured video game articles and they all seem to have a few things in common, namely a section for critical reception of the game and a nice huge chunk of source references at the bottom. Is there any particular way to go about doing that? I'm not quite sure what kinds of reviewers and critics are notable enough to research, but I figure - as the holder of the most ridiculous collection of HM:MM scenes and quotes known to mankind - I might soon be bold and start citing some character/plot/gameplay facts that can be backed up straight from the game. Any specific controversial ones that need to be verified? Toadette Fan (talk) 05:12, 4 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Wii Edition edit

Do the changes in the Wii version warrant a seperate section? I'm picking up the game tomorrow so I can list some of the changes.
