Hang Nadim AirportHang Nadim International Airport – The airport is an international airport. Therefore, the word "international" should be added to the title, just as other airport i.e: Soekarno-Hatta International Airport. Calvin Wisanto (talk) 12:19, 20 November 2016 (UTC)Reply

@BrownHairedGirl:§ According to www.flightstats.com:[1], the name of the airport is Hang Nadim International Airport. Moreover, according to BP Batam:[2], the operator of the airport, the name of the airport is Bandara Internasional Hang Nadim, which means Hang Nadim International Airport. Therefore, I believe that the word international should be added to the title. Lastly, I was wondering why other airports such as Kualanamu International Airport and Soekarno-Hatta International Airport can have the privilege of having the word "international" in their title while this airport can't. Cheers. Calvin Wisanto (talk) 14:33, 28 November 2016 (UTC)Reply
Firstly, that's a different rationale to the nomination, in which you argued that the airport somehow merited the title. That's not how article titles work.
Secondly, the evidence you offer relates to the official name of the airport. However, policy is to use the WP:COMMONNAME (which may not be the official name), and you offer no evidence that the common name includes the word "international".
Please take a little time to study the policy at WP:Article titles. --BrownHairedGirl (talk) • (contribs) 15:42, 28 November 2016
@BrownHairedGirl: My question is, why this case only happens to this article? Other airport such as Kualanamu International Airport has the word "international", yet there seems to be no problem. By the way, I have checked several unoffcial sources such as:[3] and [4]. This shows that the name Hang Nadim International Airport is commonly used. Calvin Wisanto (talk) 16:01, 28 November 2016 (UTC)Reply
(ec) @Calvin Wisanto: I don't know. Maybe the other airport is commonly known as "Kualanamu International Airport", or maybe it is misnamed. But that doesn't matter, because this discussion is not about Kualanamu.
The point is that there is no part of WP:AT which requires that an international airport include the word "international" in its name. Many Wikipedia articles on international airports do not include the word "international" in their title. See for example Heathrow, Gatwick, Schiphol, Charles de Gaulle, Munich, Jorge Newbery, Dublin, Houari Boumediene, Ben Gurion and many others.
As requested above, please do study the policy at WP:Article titles, so that you can base your arguments on article title policy. That request is also made in the standard box at the top of this discussion, and of every other requested moves discussion. --BrownHairedGirl (talk) • (contribs) 16:24, 28 November 2016 (UTC)Reply
PS 2 examples of usage are not evidence of common usage. Please please please please please please please please please please please please please please please please read WP:COMMONNAME. --BrownHairedGirl (talk) • (contribs) 16:28, 28 November 2016 (UTC)Reply
@BrownHairedGirl: Okay, I have read WP:COMMONNAME. It is stated: Wikipedia does not necessarily use the subject's "official" name as an article title; it generally prefers to use the name that is most frequently used to refer to the subject in English-language reliable sources. I have proven from the sources stated above that the name Bandara Internasional Hang Nadim which literally translates to Hang Nadim International Airport is commonly used to refer to the airport. WP:COMMONNAME also stated: Wikipedia generally prefers the name that is most commonly used (as determined by its prevalence in a significant majority of independent, reliable English-language sources) as such names will usually best fit the criteria listed above. The phrase most commonly used is stated in the statement. All of the sources I have given shows that the word "international" is commonly used to refer to the airport. Calvin Wisanto (talk) 07:08, 29 November 2016 (UTC)Reply
@Calvin Wisanto: what you have shown is that "Hang Nadim International Airport" is used in one blog and one other source. A blog is not a reliable source, so that leaves one source ... and one source is not evidence of common usage. --BrownHairedGirl (talk) • (contribs) 13:01, 29 November 2016 (UTC)Reply
@BrownHairedGirl: Here's some other sources:[5][6][7][8] Calvin Wisanto (talk) 13:25, 29 November 2016 (UTC)Reply
Calvin, this is not complicated. A common name is "the name that is most frequently used". That means comparing the usage of one name with others.
What you are doing is citing usages of one name, without making any comparison of frequency. Amakuru has done it properly below. --BrownHairedGirl (talk) • (contribs) 13:32, 29 November 2016 (UTC)Reply
@BrownHairedGirl: Okay, I have checked at Google Indonesia. This is the result: 389,000 results vs 323,000 results. This shows that my proposed name beats the current name. Calvin Wisanto (talk) 13:38, 29 November 2016 (UTC)Reply
@Calvin Wisanto: please please read WP:COMMONNAME.
Your search needs to use English-language sources, and it needs to use relaible sources, which means using oogle Books or Google news rather than just a genral web search.
All of this is explained in WP:COMMONNAME, which you claim to have read. --BrownHairedGirl (talk) • (contribs) 13:41, 29 November 2016 (UTC)Reply
  • Oppose - I've done the "XXXXX is" search test to see how this is used in sentences, and both for book results: 25 results vs 1 result, and for a regular Google search: 14,600 results vs 5,930 results, the current version is beating the proposed version. Thanks  — Amakuru (talk) 12:46, 29 November 2016 (UTC)Reply
@Amakuru: Can you try to search using Google Indonesia? Type Bandara Internasional Hang Nadim, which literally means Hang Nadim International Airport. I fetched most of the sources from Google Indonesia. Calvin Wisanto (talk) 13:30, 29 November 2016 (UTC)Reply
@Calvin Wisanto: please please read WP:COMMONNAME. The test is "prevalence in a significant majority of independent, reliable English-language sources", but "Bandara Internasional Hang Nadim" is not English-language. --BrownHairedGirl (talk) • (contribs) 13:36, 29 November 2016 (UTC)Reply
@BrownHairedGirl: Here, I have search the name "Hang Nadim International Airport" and "Hang Nadim Airport" 343,000 results vs 238,000 results. Therefore, this shows that my proposed name still beats the current name. Calvin Wisanto (talk) 13:45, 29 November 2016 (UTC)Reply
@BrownHairedGirl: Okay, it seems that I have not read WP:COMMONNAME quite detailed. My apologize for bothering you. It seems that the source Amakuru is valid. Therefore, I also Oppose to the changing of the article's name. Once again, I am terribly sorry for causing this ruckus. Cheers. Calvin Wisanto (talk) 13:51, 29 November 2016 (UTC)Reply
@Calvin Wisanto: there's absolutely no need to apologize - you were perfectly entitled to bring this request if you felt it was the right one, that's what the WP:RM process is here for, to discuss issues like this one. If you've really changed your mind on it, given there are no other supports, we can probably close it out as a "not moved", but it was a valid request to make. Thanks  — Amakuru (talk) 14:18, 29 November 2016 (UTC)Reply
