CHORSE edit

With all due respect to Mike, the C game at CHORSE, at least the kind spread at BARGE is Crazy Pineapple. Chowaha isn't spread until later when everybody is drunk. I'll fix this tomorrow if nobody complains. PhGustaf (talk) 21:32, 3 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Chowaha is much more common as the "C" than Crazy Pineapple, but that really isn't very important since both games can be played. I'll add that the C could be pineapple. 2005 (talk) 00:55, 4 August 2008 (UTC)Reply
Fine by me. Thanks. PhGustaf (talk) 01:27, 4 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Page name edit

I don't think this page is titled properly. Someone actually has to type in "H.O.R.S.E" to come to this page. I would imagine most people refer to it as "HORSE poker", with or without the periods. I think there should be one section containing all of the common mixed poker games or each one should get its own page, with 'poker' after the game name (horse poker, hose poker..ect) when needed. Below is a list of mixed poker games that are common (in order of how popular they are (in online play):

HORSE * HOSE * 8-game mix (THORSEHA) * HA (pl Holdem and pl Omaha) * Holdem mixed (fl & nl) * Omaha hi-lo mix (fl & pl) * HOE * HO * OE

I'm obviously new at wiki (just created an account) so I apologize if this post isn't formatted properly. Josh60950 (talk) 06:59, 3 November 2008 (UTC)Reply

I made a redirect for HORSE poker if someone were to search using the term. an article on Mixed poker games would be a good idea, it could also be added to List of poker variants is made ▪◦▪≡SiREX≡Talk 07:36, 3 November 2008 (UTC)Reply
A section in poker variants seems best, and then links to each article. It would be a mistake to let a mixed section overflow with every made-up mixing of games, and most standard mix games are totally not appropriate for articles... there's no reason to have a 1/2 Stud 1/2 Eight or better article since it wouldn't say anything except sometimes the two games can be played in a mix. The horse article is a good example of where a separate article is supported by references and is an actual "game" in itself. OE is probably the most common above, but I don't think it merits an article. 2005 (talk) 08:22, 3 November 2008 (UTC)Reply

Hello, I have made that page although I think i am in over my head and perhaps i did it wrong. I only listed the legitimate mixed poker games that can be found at the popular online poker rooms. I know of some other "home made" type games but I'm sure people wouldn't know what they are so I didn't include them. You can view it here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mixed_poker_games.Josh60950 (talk) 08:25, 3 November 2008 (UTC)Reply

In all my years of playing poker online and off line I have never seen someone actually playing the O.E mix. I only included it because it is available at Full Tilt. Josh60950 (talk) 08:50, 3 November 2008 (UTC)Reply

As I said, I don't see that article being the right way to go. It's just a list of slang, which is against the guidelines because Wikipedia is not an dictionary. I moved it. 2005 (talk) 09:11, 3 November 2008 (UTC)Reply

Hello, I added the section about the new horse variation; 8 game poker. However I forgot to add a link to the resource I used for that information: http://www.horsepoker.net/8-game-mix.php . I was unsure how to add that. Thanks —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.239.165.3 (talk) 06:26, 14 March 2009 (UTC)Reply

Mixed game names concern edit

Isn't the naming of the mixed games in this article getting a bit out of hand? I've never heard of a tournament or cash game being referred to as C.H.O.R.S.E, C.H.O.R.S.E.L. or T.H.O.R.S.E.H.A, it sounds more like unofficial names that editors have decided should exist. The first citation is a 404 page and the second citation only mentions H.O.R.S.E. in this format. It's looking like this article is just being overrun by random additions to the letters of H.O.R.S.E. and I believe that the article should simply focus on what H.O.R.S.E. is, what majors tournaments there have been and how non-specific additional games could be added. While those variants do exist, usually they are refered to as eight game mix or seven game mix without all the acronyms. More importantly though, this is the HORSE article so we don't need or want to go into the other variations. It seems the time has come to make a Mixed games (poker) article and redirect HOSE and all other variations to that, but leaving HORSE as an article. This would lead to an article like Community card poker where the HORSE section would link to this as a main article and the other games would be listed. 2005 (talk) 01:10, 3 February 2011 (UTC)Reply
