Hackers

Surely this article should make at least a note of one of the main things that makes Gunz stand out from other MMOs: the massive amount of hackers, about 1 or 2 every game on average. Well, it looks like someone finally got around to archiving that giant wall of text. Thank you; I was planning on doing it myself but obviously gave it up.

Extra moves added

Many new moves has been achieved now. In the article section of Korean Style and Gameplay it listed a few styles which where butterfly, half - step, slash-shot, flash-step and also the flash step. Highly advanced gaming now has double-butterfly, triple butter-fly which has a complete stop motion of any form of defensive or offensive action and the double half step. Gunz Engine

It has been speculated that the gunz engine is a heavily modified Quake 3 engine, but there is no legitimate proof of such claims outside of looking at the decompiled executable. Anti E-style Article

The article incorrectly claims that e-style is evasive or that e-stylers avoid confrontation and prolong the match. It also refers to Rifles and Machine Guns as "Spray" which is a reference to a type of shooting rather than a type of weapon.

Successful E-stylers rely on immaculate aim and the higher damage per second of automatic guns relative to melee weapon and burst weapon use. E-style has nothing to do with avoiding confrontation or prolonging the match; on the contrary E-stylers often drop opponents within seconds of line of sight being achieved. K-Style on the other hand relies on excessive maneuvering in place of shooting thus if anything K-Style is less aggressive than E-style. The only possible explanation for such a claim regarding E-style is that it does not involve melee weapon use, such that if a melee user or k-styler attempts to rush an e-styler the e-styler may backpedal/backtumble while maintaining line of sight and shooting.

The desire to categorize this as "avoiding confrontation" is obviously a result of K-styler's typical choice of short range weapons.

"Spray" refers to "Spray and Pray" a term coined in traditional FPS games in which there was no "K-style". It involves a player with poor aim holding down the button and waving the reticle all over the place. It was never meant as a justification for punishing another player, rather it was a way of identifying a less experienced and effective player. If a player kills you within seconds of you being spotted, that means he is effectively aiming as opposed to "Spraying and Praying".

Some K-stylers in Gunz have attempted to use the term to identify the use of any automatic weapons. This is really quite absurd considering that a shotgun randomly distributes pellets across a cone of fire and thus requires the least accurate aim of any weapon and yet is the most popular K-Style weapon.

GunZ Revolution Added

As you can see through my revert, and the comment on your talk page, users will not be banned for removing non-notable links. If you insist that ijji "supports" GunZ Revolution (a site which is closed right now), source your statements. Otherwise, Wikipedia is not an advertising service. We DON'T need fansite links on an encyclopedic articles. GunZFactor is there because it's what the IGunZ admin use to release updates. For ijji, they have their website to release updates, and so we don't need a confirmed fansite to be mentioned. --MrJacky (talk) 18:36, 24 May 2008 (UTC)

D-Style and E-Style added back

I have added D-Style and E-Style back.

After the cleanup I have done in April, there were redundant information added to those two, resulting in a removal.

Also, do NOT add styles like "Hybrid Style" and "Monk Style". These new styles created by the community do NOT fit here. What we need is general information for the average user of the terms that were already there for a few years. D-Style and E-Style were already around even before ijji GunZ was released, and is already accepted by the GunZ community. E-Style and D-Style are accepted by the GunZ community, but unless you can find a website as a source that verifies its notability (forums do not count), it shouldn't be added to the article. --Antoshi~! ^{T | C} 09:06, 3 June 2008 (UTC)

Authenticity

Please note that an encyclopedic article should be authentic at all times.

Do NOT add private servers here, even if you know them. If you want to show off your knowledge of them, create your own website for it. You don't expect pirated information to appear in a Windows aricle on Wikipedia.

Also, the Sequel section has been removed due to lack of references. Whether it's a rumour or an inside tip, as long as there's no solid proof or confirmation it should not be here.

Partial agree. Private servers are a huge part of the GunZ gaming scene and should be mentioned in the article. However, I agree with you that they should not be named or linked to.  Esper  ^rant  02:21, 4 December 2008 (UTC)

Wikipedia is NOT a place to introduce hacks. We don't need people to add the different hacks here.

If you want to talk about this, speak about the anti-hack system and the hacking situation.

I propose adding the following to the External Links:

/suicide command

"Official"

User:75.154.186.241 recently took up the opportunity to add in a link to "Gunz Wiki (Official)". It was deleted by XLinkBot, but I'd like to take the opportunity to remind you that if something's not official, it's probably not a good idea to say it is. You can get in trouble like that. And it helps if you don't use a site that says "Create a free website about anything you love!" on its homepage, or if the link in question isn't named "GunZ The Duel Fan Wiki". Consider referring to the general guideline on external links (WP:EL) and the videogames wikiproject guidelines (WP:VG/EL). In particular:

• External links should be kept to a minimum.
• Links to open wikis should normally be avoided.

Well, okay, if the concensus is that this particular wikia has "a substantial history of stability and a substantial number of editors" (WP:EL) then this should be okay. GunZ 2

Mods (user-generated contents)/ Pserver and more information about K-style should be added.

Refer to ragezone dot com about the modding part. And about K-style: Need mentioning advanced K-style and Latedash K-style (basically use the same steps as advanced K-style but different timing to make different cancelling (bug) happens). In addition to that, user-generated moves not only consist of K-style but also exploits on peer to peer system (in Ninja step where the in-game screenshot button create a short lag time but not disconnecting the character from the game server, in the lag period, the character moves in the direction it previously moved before the lag happens. Thus making the character move farther to reach some strange in-game position) or the exploit in which the system doesn't accept 2 objects in the same position, by using the lag between different computers, player can push another player to the upper boundary of the map (search for youtube vids for those) Squall282 (talk) 12:04, 14 March 2014 (UTC)

So, there's a few problems with what you want to add. First of all, what is the notability of ragezone? Can you find reliable sources to back up its notability? Can you find reliable sources to back up the notability of the mods? The problem with adding K-style is that there aren't enough sources that establish its notability. Are you catching the recurring theme yet? Information on Wikipedia must be backed by reliable sources, otherwise that information can be challenged/removed.

The exploits, the Ninja-step, the screenshot lag, etc. - those fall under the context that Wikipedia is not a game guide. Video game articles on Wikipedia exist to inform readers about the subject itself - the production, story, reception, etc.; not how many different variants of K-style there are. And, again, there aren't any reliable sources to find on those topics either. YouTube videos are also not considered reliable sources. I understand that you're new here, but you need to understand that Wikipedia is not like one of those random fan Wikia's where you can just throw whatever information you find onto it. Because I don't know where to start (as I am not a long-time member of the Ijji or other big community) so I just ask someone else to write it and write something I know to help. Also, basically like what I wrote, it is by no mean a game guide but some facts to support the exploit part of the game. About ragezone, iirc, some of the user-generated item sets there were made official with his name written in its description (in-game).

Refer to development part and gameplay part in Counter-Strike article, I see there no such thing as source, about VAC, even a doc without any organization backing was used as source, it is, imo, general "experience" of a gamer in the most neutral way possible. So, I think we should do it here too, if the K-style already a fact, it should be able to withstand any challenge. Squall282 (talk) 16:17, 14 March 2014 (UTC)

GunZ available

Why is the article referred to GunZ in the past? GunZ is still played by many people. There's still one surviving official GunZ (opened since January 2012) which is the version in Spanish (available in Portuguese too) called GunZ Ultra (http://gunz.kaybo1.com/) developed in Peru and sponsored by Kaybo (premium money is "K-coin").
