Talk:Gulistan (book)

Change article title proposal edit

This article is about a Persian poet, yet the transliteration (and implied pronunciation) is from Afghani or Pakistani (or perhaps Azeri or Armenian). I propose changing the spelling to "Golestan" or "Golestān", which would match other articles using the Persian spelling of the name.

The "Gulistan" disambiguation page makes relatively clear the pronunciation and transliteration in different regions.

It's known as the Gulistan to almost anyone in the English-speaking world who's heard of it. Witness the listings on amazon.com:
Maybe it's like The Thames article in the French wikipedia - no-one has (yet) said on the talk page there that it should be called The Thames not La Tamise. We're pleased they're interested. They could do with building the article up a bit though.
As Sa'di says:
"The man of worth, whose fate is cross, will go
Where men have never learned his name to know."

United Nations Quotation edit

Is there any reference or photo of this quotation? It is a big question that there quotation like this on UN or any Hall of UN or it is just a rumor? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ghafarpour (talkcontribs) 14:45, 20 April 2012 (UTC)Reply

The transliteration is incorrect edit

The transliteration is incorrect because as a native persian speaker i pronounce it as Golestān not Gulistān! Gulistān is the Arabic pronunciation and persian phonology is much different from Arabic. Dara daryapour (talk) 14:47, 8 March 2021 (UTC)Reply

You can't expect Persian in 2021 to be the same as 1258. Also, please read WP:COMMON NAME. --HistoryofIran (talk) 18:42, 8 March 2021 (UTC)Reply
