The easting coordinate is wrong, by between 15km and 25km to the West. Some other sources of coordinate data also list the same incorrect coordinate, so this is probably a duplication.

Using maps.google.com one can see Gulargambone township to the East of the coordinate on the page, at the junction of the Castlereagh River (running north) and Gulargambone Creek (running west). On the western side of the river one can see the grain terminal on the railway line. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 144.135.190.104 (talk) 13:35, 9 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

Crime claims edit

(copied from User talk:Mattinbgn): Hi, I have removed your addition again. Please see WP:RECENT for some guidance about adding every incident that happens in a place into an article. Secondly, the reference does not support the addition. Yes, there was a robbery but this, "Historically in the last several years Gulargambone has had a crime problem related to theft and break-ins" is unsupported opinion and against Wikipedia's policies on verification and neutral point of view. Cheers, Mattinbgn\talk 02:48, 30 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

I'd have to disagree, historically Gulargambone does have a crime problem. Regardless of the example, the long term historical trend is so. I don't think it's in the spirit or rules of Wikipedia to hide over such an important aspect of the town.

Also WP:NOT#NEWS applies here too. This statement "Most notable example of this was when a 83 year old man was robbed at knife point on the night of Tuesday, 07 Oct 2008 " is a blatant violation of that policy. We don't report every crime on Wikipedia. Michellecrisp (talk) 03:00, 30 October 2008 (UTC)Reply
I understand that it may not portray Gulargambone in a good light, so have removed it, but you appeared to have re-added it again?

I have no idea if the town has a crime problem, however to include it it is up to you to prove it. Wikipedia does not accept your word (or mine) for that matter. You need to find reliable sources to prove your claim or it will be removed, again. -- Mattinbgn\talk 02:56, 30 October 2008 (UTC)Reply
It's gone now. Just to reiterate, the issue wasn't about showing the town in a bad light—that is allowed—but if we do so we need to make sure it isn't original research or unsupported opinion and it is more than just a series of news reports. Show me official crime statistics etc. and it possibly could go back in; if it was significant enough. -- Mattinbgn\talk 03:14, 30 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

(first posted here):

I agree with Mattinbgn and Michellecrisp - a report of a single criminal act is not of itself notable enough to include in an article on an entire town, especially a very short article such as this one where it has undue weight. The claim that this one incident represents a crime problem over several years is original research. It may be true or it may not, but the criteria for inclusion is verifiability not truth.
If you would like to include details on Gulargambone crime, you need to find some independent, verifiable and reliable research on it. There might be something in State crime stats, or perhaps an extended series of local media articles backing up the claim. But one incident is not enough to claim a crime wave. Famous People edit

I included Alan Ridley: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alan_Ridley

In David Middleton's Rugby League 1994 Annual, he has written an obituary for Ridley where he states "Born in the Western NSW town of Gulargambone in 1910"AndrewRLP (talk) 13:42, 16 July 2018 (UTC)Reply
