List of Group A cars edit
I don't think the list is very useful and it's very unaccurate IMO. It doesn't include the various version of the Lancia Delta argably the most succesfull Group A car in Rally. On the other hand I don't think the Simca Rally 3 was homologated : it wasway to old when the Group A regulation was introduced. What else I don't believe such a list is a realistic project it will need several pages as many cars were homologated in Group A (for instance the Renault 4). It would be more realistic to create a Group A car tag.Ericd 17:17, 17 July 2006 (UTC)
- Since the above comments were made, the Lancia Delta has been included, but I agree with the general statement above, as many others are missing, like the Ford Mustang which was raced in Group A in Australia. Plus as mentioned, some Renault, plus Peugeot, Fiat and many others. There is a PDF available from FIA showing all homologated cars with document name like Historic_Pre_Homologations showing several thousand homologations in Groups 1, 2, 3... Groups A, B etc.
- Maybe the list should be a separate page. One other possible way would be a list of 5 most successful (who decides?) Group A Touring Cars and 5 most successful Group A Rally Cars. Does anyone else have any thoughts on this? --Xagent86 12:19, 18 December 2006 (UTC)
- According to the source (FIA database), there are over 800 cars to list. A Group A car is a Group A car, there is not really any distinction on-paper between a touring car, rally car, or any other Group A car. I propose to remove the list in this article, as a link to the database is sufficient to serve the needs of those who want to browse it. If the goal here isn't to include all 800+ cars, what is it? Notable cars should be written about, and a gallery of select images will work for illustration. If separate lists are still desired, perhaps "List of Group A cars used in Rallying" etc will work. 25,000? edit
Does anybody have a source 25,000 base models are required for homologation. I cannot see in any FIA regulation. --PushingPace (talk) 12:54, 20 November 2021 (UTC)
- From 1996, Group ST Super Touring cars (a Group A Formula, see Appendix J, Article 262) had the 25,000 requirement. This is the only example seen in the FIA yearbooks that are online up to 2001. Group ST were replaced in the noughties by Super 2000 which regs are still available and their requirement is 2500. I think somebody assumed this 25,000 applied to all Group A vehicles, and with few easy resources but Wikipedia this myth has spread. Regardless of if it ever was in Group A, it's not now. 2500 is correct. --Rally Wonk (talk) 22:31, 27 November 2021 (UTC)
