Vehicle

Can anyone confirm what kind of vehicle the humans were in? I saw 4x4 for in during one scene, and I thought I saw Land Rover as well. But it also looked like a Jeep Cherokee? AnmaFinotera 04:21, 7 October 2007 (UTC)

GA Review

Looks pretty good so far. I've only got a few suggestions to bring the article up to GA status:

• Need a reference for "aka Off Road" - it's not explained later in the article.
• Filmed in Winnipeg, Manitoba the film is the sixth title - needs a comma after "Manitoba".
• Featuring a cast of four, the film focuses on four teenagers - four/four is redundant; maybe "a group of teenagers"?
• heavily marked with no trespassing signs - put "no trespassing" in quotes so as to avoid the interpretation of "no signs".
• Wes freaks out - too colloquial.
• before crying about wanting to go home and dying - "wanting to go home and die"?
• Use a template to equate 1,6000 lb to kilograms.
• Use — emdashes in the {{quote}} and perhaps a colon to introduce it.
• "Sci Fi" or "Sci-Fi"? The article switches between both, so make sure it's consistent between either one or the other.

• I've removed Off Road. The only place I've seen it is IMDB, and even the Canadian channel that aired it called it Grizzly Rage so guessing that's one of those IMDB errors.

Possible "mutation"

In regards to the recent "edit", in at least one scene, (possibly more) there were suspicious barrels. They may have even been marked with toxic markings; this could lead one to believe the bear is "altered". Also considering the bear seems to have a larger than normal size and has the strength to throw a person high enough in the air to come crashing through a roof.

It would seem fair to at least acknowledge the bear is not a typical bear or mention there is something mysterious about it. The barrels are seen in one scene, no where near the bear. While someone might "believe" it is mutated, its never actually said or even really implied beyond seeing them on the scene. The bear was a normal size and really does not display above ordinary strength, at least not that is ever stated. There is nothing ever said to be mysterious about it, beyond its determination to kill the kids. No reliable source actually says the bear is, and almost all say it was boring because it was an ordinary. See WP:OR. -- AnmaFinotera (talk · contribs) 04:04, 19 April 2009 (UTC)

"...does not display above ordinary strength". -Note the scene when one of the four is thrown what looks to be over 25 feet backwards and high enough to land on, then crash through the roof of the cabin.

"There is nothing ever said to be mysterious about it..." -Never implied it was mentioned in the movie, that comment was in regards to making mention in the article that- the movie leaves room to wonder, there is something strange about that bear and/or its' territory.

Have you ever seen a bear attack? Or studied the power of a bear? A strong, angry bear could likely easily "throw" a person backwards, considering they can throw other animals easily enough, including deer and horses, and these were "teenage boys" who wouldn't weigh much more. Estimating 25 feet is, of course, purely a personal estimate, and of course it is "unlikely" but that doesn't make it extraordinary. And, again, the plot can only say exactly what happened, not add in "hints" or "guesses" or "implications" which are all still personal opinion and original research. -- AnmaFinotera (talk · contribs) 06:02, 19 April 2009 (UTC)

Who said anything about adding it to the plot? The suggestion was to just make mention somewhere in the article some viewers believe there is something different about the bear. Its not making a "claim", stating a "fact", or misrepresenting the movie in any form, it is simply acknowledging a different point of view. You made mention that critics "heavily panned the film" for several flaws; critics review based on interpretation of the film.

There was never a question the bear cannot knock a person backwards (several feet); yes a bear can "throw" animals, but there is NO way a bear could throw a deer up through the air in an arching motion and on top of a cabin's roof.

Example: Grizzly Rage breaks the standard mold for many Sci Fi natural horror films in that the bear featured is a normal grizzly bear rather than a mutant or genetically altered animal. However, the bear and actors never appear together in the same frame, rather a man in a bear suit takes over the role when the actors must interact with the bear. Critics heavily panned the film, feeling its plot, script, characters, and special effects were substandard.
