What is the source for the Manasomody Sportive Lemur being a synonym for Grewcock's Sportive Lemur?Rlendog (talk) 01:40, 6 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

I may have found the source - pages 24-25 of this publication: http://www.nsrl.ttu.edu/publications/opapers/specpubs/SP53.pdf
The authors are rather prestigious, including Mittermeier and Louis. According to the publication, mtDNA testing they performed did not distinguish L. manasamody from L. grewcocki (which is actually referred to in the paper as L. grewcockorum, but that's another topic). And they claim that the type localities for the two species are just 2 km apart with no discernable barrier, such as a river or mountain. And they claim that other studies (including Craul's) were less complete. Hence they believe L. manasmody is a junior synonym of L. grewcock(orum). I'm not sure if this is adedquate to support a redirect of L. manasamody to L. grewcocki at this point - perhaps that should wait until additional studies are done - but the articles should probably address the issue.Rlendog (talk) 02:54, 6 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

Latin Names edit

Is the proper Latin name for this species L. grewcocki or L. grecockorum? The recent paper referenced above that is co-authored by Louis uses the latter.Rlendog (talk) 22:15, 6 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

Garbutt's book actually references both names, somaybe there is some controversy here.22:34, 6 June 2008 (UTC)
