Grand Jury Prize and Special Jury Prize

edit

The current awarding system in Venice film festival was created and first conducted in 2013, when the second and third prize of main competition section started to be defined as Grand Jury Prize and Special Jury Prize respectively. I think that is the consensus. The problem appears when we discuss Special Jury Prize before 2013: should we consider all the winners of Special Jury Prize in the past ca. 60 years as nowadays Grand Jury Prize winners? Should the winners of Grand Jury Prize (since 2013) and Special Jury Prize (before 2013) be listed together? This is what Wikipedia define in English, French and Italian version, but not in Chinese and Japanese version. I found one reference/news about adding new prize in Venice in 2013, which stated that actually Grand Jury Prize was newly created that time, not just being substituted for the Special Jury Prize because Special Jury Prize still exists. The way Wikipedia shows now is more like that Special Jury Prize was created and first awarded in 2013, and the original one (the same name as Special Jury Prize) was changed name into Grand Jury Prize in 2013. I can't find any news or reference to support the latter (i.e. the way Wikipedia now defines). A51303p (talk) 07:56, 3 July 2017 (UTC)Reply
