The formulations "was an Austrian former Nazi soldier" and „a former Nazi soldier with the Wehrmacht,“ should be revised. What is a "Nazi soldier"? During WW II the German army was called Wehrmacht. There was no "Nazi army" or "Nazi soldiers", only "German soldiers". Also, what relevance do these formulations have for this text, i.e. to mention that he served in the Wehrmacht? All Austrian men had to serve in the Wehrmacht. Men did not have the choice, if they had missed the point when it was still possible to flee. Many missed this point for different reasons (family, property, uncertainty what is going to happen at home or in the country you intended to flee to).
