Talk:Gordon Wilson (British Columbia politician)

Changes to article in January 06 edit

There were some inaccuracies in or things excluded from the article; I changed a couple, but I'm not entirely certain of the others.

First, Wilson didn't "successfully negotiate" his way into the 1991 debate, he sued the CBC to be included, and won. Second, I'm not sure Gary Collins had much to do with Gordon Campbell winning the Liberal leadership. If I remember correctly, the BC Liberals thought they would be smart, and get more members by making party membership free; and then they'd allow people to vote at the leadership convention on line. That made it really easy for former Socreds to hijack the Liberal Party by joining and voting for Gordon Campbell. Finally, it wasn't just a leadership review - that's where people say "yes" or "no" to the leader - it was a leadership convention Wilson called, similar to what Joe Clark did in 1983, to try to reaffirm support in his leadership (a gamble that, in both cases, failed). 24.64.223.203 10:26, 11 January 2006 (UTC)Reply

Issues needing attention edit

"Wilson was perceived by some observers as being more lucky than skilled in his 1991 electoral success," it writes, but surely some saw him as skilled. I'm not convinced of the NPOV nature of this statement alone (and I just removed an assertion he was responsible for the '91 success from Progressive Democratic Alliance.) And expansion on his relationship with Judi Tyabji Wilson is needed sorely. Samaritan 22:55, 14 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

Just remember everthing has to be citable in a WP:BLP article.Skookum1 18:31, 13 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

No offense, but...= edit

{this copied over from the Tyabji talkpage, where I just wrote it) I just happened to look through the edit history[of the Judy Tyabji article] to see who's worked on this, and how many contributors, and noticed a certain name. All contributors here please see WP:COI and WP:AUTO - especially WP:AUTO, although WP:COI applies more to not contributing to articles on organizations by members of that organization. WP:AUTO is about not contributing to or editing articles about yourself (see Talk:Erik Bornmann and its various report-links as to why this is an issue....Skookum1 18:31, 13 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

renaming edit

Should the article not be renamed "Gordon Wilson (British Columbia politician)" (currently a redirect) since we now also have Gordon Wilson (Nova Scotia politician)? Note we also have another Canadian politician named Gordon Crooks Wilson. DGtal (talk) 09:32, 31 December 2017 (UTC)Reply

Gordon Wilson (Canadian politician)Gordon Wilson (British Columbia politician) – As per DGtal's points above. We have two Gordon Wilsons who have served as provincial legislators. The natural disambiguator is their province of service. "Canadian politician" fails WP:PRECISE. Madg2011 (talk) 19:31, 20 March 2018 (UTC)Reply

  • Support, not precise enough. The current title should redirect to Gordon Wilson as incomplete disambiguation. —Xezbeth (talk) 11:53, 21 March 2018 (UTC)Reply
