Australian case edit

Can someone more familiar with this please elaborate on how and why the Australian Google-mobile intercepted data from wi-fi spots ? Neither the article nor the sources explain this except to say that it was inadvertent. I'm just wondering why the car would be set up to do that in the first place and I think an explanation would be a good addition to this article.76.113.104.58 (talk) 06:07, 14 December 2010 (UTC)Reply

Blurring of vehicle make/model insignia edit

I've noticed that the make/model insignia on each vehicle appears to be blurred out (at least last time I checked while roaming the streets in Anchorage, Alaska). Does anyone have any information on why Google Maps is doing this? Could it be that Google charges auto manufactures to NOT have their brand insignia blurred? This could be sort of advertising revenue model to help pay back the cost and/or profit from the street view project. Perhaps this is done for other brands as well? Or is this vehicle brand blurring done for some other privacy reason? Ttwiv (talk) 16:53, 19 November 2012 (UTC)Reply

It's because people can be traced through their number plates you total cretin. Basket Feudalist 12:01, 26 January 2013 (UTC)Reply

I was not asking about the license plates being blurred. I was asking about the make/model of the vehicle being blurred.Ttwiv (talk) 15:29, 29 January 2013 (UTC)Reply

93.135.163.161 (talk) 16:05, 22 February 2015 (UTC) The blurring of license plates is OK as long as the erroneous blurring are found and undone. But if it damages the imagery without way back it's no longer OK.Reply

Unknown terms edit

Please consider another term for "cottager". Googling the word I find that it is a slang word. Perhaps an explanation or other term can be used? The wording "adult bookstores" seems strange, to my knowledge childrens bookstores are very rare, so most bookstores cater for all ages. If indeed they only sell sexually explicit literature why not write that. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 83.226.90.199 (talk) 17:08, 16 July 2013 (UTC)Reply

For 'Cottager' read 'men who sink down on their knees and worship other men with their mouths'. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 80.43.130.111 (talk) 08:59, 5 September 2013 (UTC)Reply

Virtual museum shouldn't be damaged edit

But Europe seems to have no public space at all. :( — Preceding unsigned comment added by 93.215.162.244 (talk) 13:51, 21 August 2015 (UTC)Reply

Is there any way to drive attention to the issue with incorrectly censored objects which shouldn't be censored? edit

I don't want the history to be damaged and censored name of shop is damage of history. 93.215.161.220 (talk) 10:39, 28 August 2015 (UTC)Reply

Breitbart link on Pentagon is no good, replacing edit

I am replacing the link http://www.breitbart.com/?id=D8V84RL00&show_article=1 with a link to http://www.reuters.com/article/us-usa-military-google-idUSN0625659220080306 because the BNN link just goes to the home page and I can't find a cache of the brietbart link on the way back machine if nobody objects. Thanks. --Kushal (talk) 00:36, 13 January 2016 (UTC)Reply
