Definition of name edit

I don't understand the Russian definition of "God" in the lead; it's also not sourced. I was under the impression that since he's Jewish, it's an alternate spelling of Gad, a popular Hebrew name. Yoninah (talk) 10:20, 30 March 2015 (UTC)Reply

I started the article, but didn't add that bit. I've no idea where the name comes from and don't speak Russian or Hebrew. The Hebrew origin sounds plausible. Edwardx (talk) 10:28, 30 March 2015 (UTC)Reply
In Russian, 'god' means 'year', but that doesn't explain anything. -- Jack of Oz [pleasantries] 11:04, 17 March 2017 (UTC)Reply

Reason for US sanctions edit

The source does not support that Nisanov was sanctioned "for being close to Putin and Russian officials" as the article now states. There is a difference between saying "I'm targeting this person who is a close associate of Russian officials" and "I'm targeting this person for being close to Russian officials."
