Name edit

I have lived in Gleno all my life, to be fair its a shithole compared to the north coasts true beauty of causeway but I have been trapped living here for nearly 18 years and there is a lot of discussion about the spelling of the name. Many signs in the village that have been usually in Ballymena have spelt it "Glenoe" (also this article spelt it the same way) whereas the actual spelling is "Gleno". In and around the village there are road signs and plaques that spell it both ways, does anyone know why this is? Also, does anyone know the origins of its name, taken from the Irish spelling? For example, Larne was originally called Latharna.

Both examples of the spelling are correct. They are corruptions from the Irish into English. The correct version in English is 'Glenoe'. There is an old book in the Linenhall library in Belfast which describes how the two variations originated.
