Error about Stanhope and Post of Earl Marshal

The article currently reads:

"but feuded with his former friend John Stanhope when John's brother got the post of Earl Marshal of England, which Gilbert had assumed would be his."

The Wikipedia article on the post of Earl Marshal lists the period 1590-97 as one in which no one held the position, and this is consistent with other sources available to me. There is no citation to the claim that John Stanhope's brother obtained the position, or even that he and Gilbert quarreled over it (which they may have done, but if so, a citation is needed as this is not common knowledge). The article needs to be edited accordingly. I dare not do so for fear of the wrath of greater minds than my own. Thank you. --BenJonson (talk) 23:25, 24 April 2013 (UTC)
