Is the bit about Mill Valley being among the top 10 places to live at all relevant to this article? Can it simply go away?

This is not impartial and has self-serving POVs all over the place:

In January of 1996, a fatuous, drunken journalist who had happened to work with Bing at Esquire decided to share what had been a closely held secret since 1984 with a mean-spirited reporter from the New York Times. And so it was that on a Monday morning, as a blizzard hit New York, the Times published a breathless article revealing that Bing was actually Schwartz, who worked for a big media company.

Did Bing write this article? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Thomas AM (talkcontribs) 19:45:27, August 19, 2007 (UTC).

Yes, he did. He wrote it as Lazenby (talk · contribs) on 16 November 2006. Lazenby is a character that Stanley Bing frequently mentions in his columns.Jmkleeberg (talk) 21:44, 11 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

Of course he wrote it edit

And I certainly don't think it disqualifies the article, or Wikipedia.

Stanley Bing is a character, not a real person. So it is only very proper, clever and fun that his bio is writen by his creator. I see it as one more virtue of the whole system of open contributions, and a source of pride for Wikipedia.

I emphaticaly motion to keep it. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Mmellof (talkcontribs) 12:10, 15 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

Place Where He Works edit

Is there any reason why instead of saying "CBS", the article says, "big media company" with a link to CBS? I would think since this is an encyclopedia, that we should just be saying CBS, and not provide a link/clue, that sends us to CBS.

I think CBS should be put in there. But I will hold off a bit on this, to see if anyone can justify why we should NOT change it to CBS. Asc85 (talk) 01:41, 4 June 2009 (UTC)Reply

/* Publication of identity */ citation for revelation of Bing's identity. edit

I've added a citation for the January 1996 Times article that reveals Bing's identity. The article does not indicate whether its author worked with him at Esquire, so I've put a verification tag on that. I've also removed the "unsuccessfully tried to raise issues" bit; the "unsuccessfully" is completely subjective, and while I think the "tried to raise issues" part is probably true, I felt reaching that conclusion required too much synthesis to include in the WP article. --some jerk on the Internet (talk) 15:57, 3 November 2011 (UTC)Reply

Source of natural causes edit

Where did the source of natural causes come from? MikaelaArsenault (talk) 00:19, 4 May 2020 (UTC)Reply

Never mind. These sources are saying heart attack, so I just added that instead.
