Media Appearances edit

The media appearances section is being continually deleted. The latest excuse was unreliable sources. The two remaining media appearances are an episode of Snapped (referenced to Oxygen network, the network hat produces the show) and the HGTV Dream Home (referenced to the HGTV network dream home page) yet I’m still being told that there aren’t reliable enough. How is that possible? They are literally the source. — Preceding unsigned comment added by PinocchiosPencilSharpener (talkcontribs)

This is one silly edit war. TV listings are not reliable sources, and more than that they are not independent and thus cannot be used to establish notability. If the media appearance did not warrant enough attention to make it into the News Tribune or another local newspaper, it's probably not going to be notable in the long-term history of the city. Where did the income data come from on the page. Census.gov only lists census data uptoo 2003 and Gig harbor income for 2000 census (1999 dollars). It is listed at $43,456 median hoeshold income and $57,587 median family income.

How did they from being near state average to about 4 times state average in a few years?

That income level is higher than Hunts Point, Medina, etc... that's not correct.

History section deleted? edit

Was this an accident? I restored it to what it used to be. Why would someone have done this?

Heavy Handed Government edit

While there may be merit to that argument, it's an opinion, and I'm going to delete it. The truth is that there never was much heavy industry, aside from fishing, in downtown, or elsewhere, in Gig Harbor.

Kenneth Pinyan deleted? edit

Again, the death of one individual, who had no significance to the community while living, regardless of the circumstances of his death somewhere else, does not make that persons residency noteworthy. His inclusion here is at best sophomoric and immature.

Being killed from sex with an Arabian stallion certainly makes Mr. Pinyan a noteworthy former resident. Re-added. 67.193.211.217 (talk) 05:19, 26 September 2009 (UTC)Reply

Reverted the edit by Bzuk. Bestiality being outlawed because of your death is noteworthy. 67.193.211.217 (talk) 23:56, 5 November 2009 (UTC)Reply

Mr. Pinyan's residence in Gig Harbor had no relation to the events of his notoriety. The events in question took place elsewhere. Sammichraptor (talk) 00:10, 13 November 2009 (UTC)Reply

What does that have to do with anything? He lived in Gig Harbor, where the events took place have no bearing. 67.193.211.217 (talk) 05:42, 13 November 2009 (UTC)Reply

By that reasoning we should revert and include the following:

  • Actor Josh Lucas graduated from Gig Harbor High School
  • Actress Rose McGowan lived with her grandmother in Gig Harbor
  • Paula Lillard, founder of the Gig Harbor Film Festival and mother of actor Matthew Lillard lives in Gig Harbor

Mr. Pinyan's residence is relevant to his personal biography page and should be included there (and is). It has no bearing on Gig Harbor itself, no relation to Gig Harbor, and no relevance to the Gig Harbor page. Sammichraptor (talk) 07:13, 14 November 2009 (UTC)Reply

Heritage Distillery edit

The section under tourism is written like an advertisement and lacks notability. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Rtwpsom2 (talkcontribs) 14:54, 17 October 2013 (UTC)Reply

I've deleted it for now. (talk to) TheOtherGaelan('s contributions) 04:23, 10 June 2015 (UTC)Reply

Citations - small edits - edit suggestions edit

I added multiple citations to verify claims already made within the article, although I couldn't verify all of them. There was also once sentence at the beginning I deleted pertaining to per capita of Gig Harbor that was no longer supported by the page it was linked to. The only other edit I made was unlinking the "Blessing of the Fleet" link because it was out of date. I would recommend going through the article even more carefully and doing more research to provide reliable sources. One other recommendation would be to go through and edit many of the page links within the article, which are lacking in citations themselves. Ariel316 (talk) 02:13, 15 October 2017 (UTC)Reply
