Proposed merger into Giant axonal neuropathy edit
This does not appear to be a distinct diagnosis from GAN, but rather a subset of GAN. A google scholar search turns up only two mentions: The first is in "HITSZ_CDR: an end-to-end chemical and disease relation extraction system for BioCreative V" (doi: 10.1093/database/baw077) which says "The first name in the name list returned by MeSH WebSearch API, ‘Giant Axonal Neuropathy’, was found in MeSH with ID D056768, while the first name in the name list returned by Wikipedia API, ‘Giant axonal neuropathy with curly hair’, was not, denoted by ‘ID = −1’." This supports it not being a distinct diagnosis. Its second Google Scholar appearance is in the patent "Treatment of Dermatological Conditions via Neuromodulation" (US20180311499A1) in a long list of conditions, without any information. Other google results are simply mirrors of wikipedia. The article "The absence of curly hair is associated with a milder phenotype in Giant Axonal Neuropathy" (doi: 10.1016/j.nmd.2013.06.007) does suggest that curly hair is correlated with the severity of GAN. However, from the abstract at least, it doesn't say "Giant axonal neuropathy with curly hair" is a separate diagnosis. The article is behind a paywall which I currently cannot get through. Unless there is evidence to suggest that "Giant axonal neuropathy with curly hair" is a different diagnosis from GAN, I think its best to discuss this feature and its correlation with different degrees of disease severity in the main GAN article and turn this into a redirect.
