Georgians in Turkey, includes several groups

1. Autochthonous Georgians of Artvin. They are Muslim. Their autonym simply "Gurji" or rarely they use Chveneburi term.

2. Chveneburi people, immigrant Muslim group. They originally from Batum (Adjaria) or Artvin (or elsewhere from Tao-Klarjeti). They have a lot of villages in Marmara and Black Sea region.

3. Catholic Georgians , they have very small population. And lives in Istanbul and some others in Trabzon. They've a monastery in Istanbul, but no have cleric. Last Georgian priest died in 1981. They had churches, monasteries and schools at Ottoman Era.

4. Georgian Jews, very slightly number. They lives in Istanbul. Formerly, they have a synagogue in Galata, named "Or Hodeş". They migrated mainly to Israel. Remainders have still Georgian surnames (with -şvili ending). But they no interest Georgianity.

5. Georgian expatriates, they came to Turkey for work, after dissolution of soviets. The only Orthodox Group. (Artvin Georgians also formerly orthodox, until the Selim's conquests, 16th century..)

6. Ingilo Georgians from Azerbaijan (from Aliabad?). They lives in a village in Adana, Muslims.

Çat pat gürcüce anlıyorum ama sanırsam Gürcüce ve Türkçe bazı şeyler buluğunu belirttin. Ortodox falan pek anlamadım ama. elmasmelih (used to be KazekageTR) 17:45, 29 May 2014 (UTC)Reply

Bu arada ben ana Georgian people maddesinde birkaç iyileştirme yaptım Türkiye üzerine, isim değişikliği benim ürünüm değil. elmasmelih (used to be KazekageTR) 18:44, 29 May 2014 (UTC)Reply

Erdogan denied being of Georgian origin edit

Therefore he shouldn't be in the infobox. --Mttll (talk) 10:29, 7 October 2014 (UTC)Reply

But he stated he has a Georgian origin back in 2003. One cant change his/her origin. kazekagetr 17:53, 7 October 2014 (UTC)Reply

There is no way to verify that. He clearly denied it in 2014, lumping it together with the obviously unfounded rumor that he is of Armenian origin.
In any event, self-identification is a very important part of ethnicitiy; so Erdogan shouldn't be featured in this infobox. --Mttll (talk) 12:17, 8 October 2014 (UTC)Reply

there you go, websites verify that. [1], [2], [3], [4]. kazekagetr 12:35, 8 October 2014 (UTC)Reply

They are just circulating the same rumor (which might be true, I'm not saying it isn't), but there is no first-hand evidence such as an audio or video recording of Erdogan saying he has Georgian origin. On the other hand, there is a video recording of him denying that he has Georgian just a few months ago. Give it up. --Mttll (talk) 08:24, 9 October 2014 (UTC)Reply

'Rumor'? it was on the news in milliyet and zaman which two are popular in Turkey as you know. Also video doesnt gives a special privilege on referencing things though. kazekagetr 17:18, 9 October 2014 (UTC)Reply

Hello?! Erdogan denied it himself in front of all Turkey. What are we even talking about here?
Best case scenario: Erdogan is of Georgian descent, but does not acknowledge it, in which case he shouldn't be featured in this infobox.
Worst case scenario: Erdogan has nothing to do with Georgia, in which case he shouldn't be featured in this infobox.
You don't have a case here. --Mttll (talk) 18:18, 9 October 2014 (UTC)Reply

yeah MJ denied he was a black too back in those days. i say that removal will be done only by a consensus among other users who edit this page. kazekagetr 18:32, 9 October 2014 (UTC)Reply

Actually, that doesn't make any sense. I suggest you go read WP:BLP. Let me quote something from there for you: --Mttll (talk) 09:04, 10 October 2014 (UTC)Reply

Contentious material about living persons (or, in some cases, recently deceased) that is unsourced or poorly sourced – whether the material is negative, positive, neutral, or just questionable – should be removed immediately and without waiting for discussion.

Yeah i know that, i suggest you read it again carefully, ' that is unsourced or poorly sourced ', these sources are valid. Thats why i say that we need consensus. kazekagetr 22:38, 10 October 2014 (UTC)Reply

What those sources say is that Erdogan said he was Georgian in 2004 (which is not independently verifiable), but then said he was not Georgian in 2014 (which is independently verifable). You can't feature Erdogan in Wiki article called Georgians in Turkey based on this. --Mttll (talk) 12:29, 11 October 2014 (UTC)Reply

Renaming this to Turkish Georgians? edit

What about renaming this to Turkish Georgians? Georgians in Iran for example are called Iranian Georgians, as they have a century long presence in the nation, and I think this is to a very large degree the same as in Turkey. I'd like to hear some opinions about this. - LouisAragon (talk) 03:04, 13 June 2015 (UTC)Reply

Lazs edit

Adding Lazs to that topic makes no sense. They are not Georgian. As a Georgian from Turkey we call ourselves Chveneburi but we don't include Lazs to that name.

Obviously Lazs and Georgians share same origin. But saying Lazs are Georgians have no meaning none of Lazs don't call themselves as Georgian. And they are not Georgian.

While making this unnecessary behaving you are just offend and decrease Lazs opinion for Georgia. Because they have their own identity and they deserve the respect to that.
