Saying that the EU borders 19 non-EU countries may be factually wrong : see France undisputed border with Australia in Adelieland, and the UK's disputed claims in the same region. Claims will be frozen until 2030 unless I am mistaken, can an IR specialist tell us whether the long double France-Australia border on Antartica actually count as a border yet ? Because this part of France is not part of the UE ... The only borders taken in account are the one within the Union, ie Metropolitan countries and the outermost regions ... TreehillGrave ton message ici 19:36, 5 August 2012 (UTC)Reply

Isn't this an English Wikipedia page? edit

The map showing the various outermost parts of the EU has all the names in French.

Surely on an English Wikipedia page, they should be in English?

I recognise that the source is a French one, but won't there be an English version somewhere - perhaps on the EU website?

What is wrong with the map currently being displayed on the Wikipedia Special member state territories and the European Union web page? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 213.205.251.35 (talk) 10:32, 2 April 2017 (UTC)Reply

Updated Map and Issue with Border Section edit

Hello there, I noticed that the map under heading physical geography has not been changed after the UK left, is anyone working on a new map that excludes all UK territories? I would make one myself but I don't know how.

Also for some reason people keep adding the UK back onto the Borders Section of the side info template, It doesn't make sense why people keep adding it back on. It is supposed to be for the borders of the countries in the EU not which countries border it. I've amended this 3 times now and it keeps being undone.

Cheers. StewySphinx69 (talk) 14:42, 6 February 2020 (UTC)Reply

@StewySphinx69: that list is of non-EU countries which share a border with an EU country. The UK is on the list as a non-EU country which shares a border with an EU country, Ireland. -- DeFacto (talk). 18:53, 6 February 2020 (UTC)Reply
@DeFacto: Cheers, only just noticed that, made myself look stupid there. I just saw that it said UK and borders and thought 'that needs changing'. Thanks for pointing it out though, need to look more in depth next time. - StewySphinx69 (talk) 21:05, 6 February 2020 (UTC)Reply

Gibraltar border edit

Gibraltar is not officially part of the UK, should it be included too? Vpab15 (talk) 23:25, 17 February 2020 (UTC)Reply

Cyprus is in the continent of Europe edit

Cyprus is in the continent of Europe. As what a continent, and specifically Europe, is not well defined, there are many ways to define it. According to the original Histories (Ἱστορίαι) by the Ancient Greek historian Herodotus, written in Ancient Greek, it says that Asia Minor (Modern day Turkey) is the "neck" of Asia and the rest of it, is the land that is east of that (specifically excludes Cyprus). So Cyprus is in Europe.
