Conjecture edit
I propose the star got bigger. The star may have aged and slowed down internal processes that no longer supported the same gravity.
The gravity level dropped, and the star's diameter increased, but which happened first? It might be thousands of years before it goes into the next phase of this transition.

This is not original research. Swift data are released to the community with very little delay. Swift scientist often bemoan the fact that sometimes they get scooped with their own data. Rob 03:42, 8 March 2006 (UTC)
