Opel Kapitän edit

The article ignores completely the fact, that Pobeda was built on production lines of Opel Kapitän (and thus heavily based on), brought to the Soviet Union as war reparations from Germany after the war. -91.32.200.162 15:12, 26 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

Can you prove that Pobeda was built on production lines of Opel Kapitän, and that it was heavily based on it? First drawings of Pobeda appeared in 1944, before war's end. It had modern unitized body construction, not old-style body-on-frame, like Opel and like most American cars of that time. The Opel Kapitaen also had unitized body. The Pobeda's designers actually used Opel's undercarridge (mostly sub-frames and floor panel) as a prototype because total lack of experience in developing modern unitized bodies. But the entire bodies have very many differences as shown here. They have not much in common, actually. Of course the Pobeda was not "heavily based" on the Kapitaen.

Also the Pobeda's front suspension is almost a direct copy of Opel's unit - [1].

The engine was a 4-cylinder licensed version of a pre-was Dodge engine. All this is described in the Russian version of this article.
