University or university college

This article should have its title changed because the name of the school is not "Gävle University College". This school uses two names: "Högskolan i Gävle" in Swedish and "University of Gävle" in English. The school is classified as a university college but, like many other schools, does not use the government classification as part of its name. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 213.226.69.39 (talk) 16:49, 1 August 2010 (UTC)

This has been discussed on WikiProject Sweden and consensus seems to be that Wikipedia should use the English names as listed by Högskoleverket, regardless of what the university college calls itself. Please restart that discussion if you think we missed something relevant on the last round (archived as Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject Sweden/Archive 1#University colleges). --LPfi (talk) 04:24, 4 September 2010 (UTC)

I wish to restart this discussion. The term högskola is also valid for any other kind of högskola as e.g. folkhögskola which is not valid for the University of Gävle. Previously there were profession university colleges which is not the same as the University of Gävle anymore. If this were to follow directly after the [1] then it should be called public-sector university college, in order to distinguish it from other university colleges. There is also a head master decision at the University of Gävle on what the namen in english should be, if needed it can be provided. The Swedish higher education authority (UKÄ) also names all smaller state owned universities (statliga högskolor) as University [2] Helsingia (talk) 15:38, 21 January 2021 (UTC)
