It does, in fact. However, the end of the novel itself simply describes that the protagonist's ancestor dies, and then implies that this has resulted in a tragic end for the protagonist. There is then a "post-scriptum" dated March 1958 which explicitly points out the grandfather paradox and that the protagonist is permanently stuck between existence and non-existence.
