This is a talk page for "Fuel starvation".

Redirect titles edit

Shouldn't there be redirects to "Fuel starvation"? Some people might type in "fuel depletion" or "fuel exhaustion". 202.95.200.12 08:48, 27 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

Image edit

Should the page have an image, table, or illustration as well as text? Snowman (talk) 13:21, 11 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

I think that this page needs images of some fuel starvation incidents, although I don't know why a table would be needed.

Flight numbers and registrations edit

For some stupid reason, you editors are removing useful information that identifies the incidents. Some of you edits involve:

  • Removing "Flight 440" from the Indian Airlines incident
  • Removing flight registrations from the Cessna C-208-A Caravan incident and the Aeroflot ditching
  • Removing the name of the airline operating the Cessna aircraft
  • Changing "west" to "West" and "north-northeast" to "North-Northeast"

These edits are WRONG!!! You'd better understand that!

I see your enforced absence has not achieved anything; once again you distinguish yourself by your rudeness and your reverting good edits to bad edits. You even made a mistake here; it isn't a "C-208-A", but a 208A; Cessna does not use hyphens. On the subject of hyphens, you have been told many times that Boeing and Airbus model designations have only one, ie 767-200, 777-300ER, or A340-600. The name of the operator of the Cessna is unimportant; there will never be a Wikipedia article on the company, it was a one-aircraft operation and the owner of the company died in the crash. The incident has been included in the article to illustrate the fuel contamination cause for fuel starvation, and those wanting to know more can click on the link in the reference. As for the rest, see my thoughts on the matter on your talk page. I will say you are correct in removing the capitals from "West" and "North-Northeast", that is one thing you have changed that does conform to the Manual of Style. Thanks for realising removing the capitals from the compass directions. How about the registrations and flight numbers? Aren't they useful?

By the way, does anyone accept the idea of having Tupolev 124 ditching in Neva River like this: CCCP-45021? Many of you have rejected this edit but no-one has rejected the idea of Stockport Air Disaster being like this: G-ALHG.

Has Anyone Heard Of Such An Event? edit

I am sure that I have read somewhere on the net, the story of a Delta Dagger or Delta Dart (I could have the specific aircraft type wrong, though, but is was a military aircraft) whose pilot ejected and whose aircraft proceeded to fly until its fuel was exhausted, thereup making an almost perfect landing in a snow-covered field, possibly in the mid-West somewhere. Is anyone familiar with this event? Hi There (talk) 04:39, 23 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

See Cornfield Bomber, where an F-106 belly-landed in a field in Montana. The engine was still running when it landed, so it's not listed on the page. - BilCat (talk) 01:03, 5 June 2016 (UTC)Reply

1989 MiG-23 incident: fuel starvation or depletion? edit

This listed incident: "On 4 July 1989, the pilot of a Soviet Mikoyan-Gurevich MiG-23, presuming he had engine problems, ejected from his aircraft. (...) until it ran out of fuel and crashed into a house in Belgium, killing the occupant of the house" specifically mentions that the aircraft ran out of fuel. Doesn't that mean that this is an example of fuel depletion, not fuel starvation, and shouldn't be listed in this article? 62.205.68.224 (talk) 06:24, 22 March 2021 (UTC)Reply
