Ship's complement edit

One item springs to mind, were there really only 3 officers? The usual number for a British ship of the same size would be about 6 or 7 commissioned officers plus a number of senior warrant officers, the officers of Marines, plus petty officers etc. I know France is egalitarian but who stands the watches? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Dabbler (talkcontribs) 15:06, 16 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

It sounds to me like 3 is the number of officers ranking "capitaine". I seem to recall that you'd have a capitaine de vaisseau in command, a capitaine de frégate for first officer and a capitaine de corvette or frégate as second officer, plus the complement of lieutenants and ensigns that you can imagine. I'll try to find sources on this. Rama 15:41, 16 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

Number dying in the wreck edit

Is the number 250-390 quoted meant to include all the sailors and soldiers who died in the wreck or just the official naval crew members with an additional number of army soldiers also dying. Most sources I see quote a total death toll of 900-1000 men. Dabbler (talk) 04:09, 6 February 2009 (UTC)Reply

Armament edit

In the table, the gun "calibers" are obviously converted from pounds to kg using the Avoirdupois pound. I doubt that the french used this imperial measure - can somebody check? --84.177.121.2 (talk) 20:25, 4 October 2009 (UTC)Reply
