At least six species edit

My gardening encyclopedia says "at least six species" in Freesia but only mentions this one by name. Stan 17:45, 23 Mar 2004 (UTC)

A check of google for Freesia site:.za (since the genus is South African) soon reveals there's 14-16 species - MPF 11:14, 4 January 2006 (UTC)Reply
All species formerly in Anomatheca are now included in Freesia. As of now, the World Checklist of Selected Plant Families lists 16 species. Peter coxhead (talk) 20:04, 13 August 2012 (UTC)Reply

Fragrance edit

Is freesia the flower whose fragrance only some people can smell (as peppery or pleasant), while others smell nothing at all? --Menchi 19:40, 17 Feb 2005 (UTC)

I've never heard the fragrance of freesia described as peppery before - it is usually described as a very sweet, bright floral scent.

I think only two thirds of the population(in North America anyway) can smell it. Will try to find my source for that Zagubov (talk) 20:55, 3 February 2010 (UTC)Reply
