What?

"Not much is publicly known about Flood's personal life [citation needed], although he was born in Manchester UK in 1960." why is there a need to cite something that cannot be verified? It is kind of difficult to conduct a search for nothing.

What was the fact tag on the following statement removed? "[Mark Ellis is] known for his cutting-edge electronic sound, which seamlessly blends synthetic and organic elements." This probably actually be reworded to say who regards him as such or removed. --Nonpareility 04:09, 13 October 2006 (UTC)

Apologies for removing it. It merely seems self-evident, like saying "Rothko is known for big rectangles of color" or "Bach is known for counterpoint." Flood produced Violator and Pretty Hate Machine; he introduced electronics to the Smashing Pumpkins' and U2's palettes. It is really not a disputed point, and anyone who knows who he is understands this. I mean, if you really want a citation, I'm sure it can be found, but it's silly to cite "the sky is blue." Your Bach and Rothko examples are self-evident, and further any reference in other parts of their articles would likely mention them. This situation is different in that

1. Flood is no Bach or Rothko
2. I'm specifically disputing the words "cutting-edge" and "seamlessly", which describe how great (somebody thinks) he is, rather than the simple fact that he's a record producer.--Nonpareility 14:49, 13 October 2006 (UTC)

Record/Music Producer?

Just a nitpick, but...shouldn't it be Mark Ellis (music producer)? The medium that music is on is continually changing (from records, to CDs, and now mp3s), so music producer would be more accurate and inclusive. Requested move

Mark Ellis (record producer) → Flood (producer) — Commonly goes by the nickname "Flood"—not by his birth name. Article should be moved as per WP:NCP#Nick names, pen names, stage names, cognomens. "Producer" is a specific enough attribution, and "record producer" is unnecessary. —Dream out loud 00:53, 24 May 2007 (UTC)

The names of articles in the relevant categories aren't standardized. Some have "(producer)", some have "(music producer)", some have "(record producer)". It seems as though the name should be changed to some variation of "Flood", however. Dekimasuよ! 06:46, 29 May 2007 (UTC)

Given that the titles are not standardised, I concur with Dream out loud that the simplest disambiguator is preferable. This article has been renamed from Mark Ellis (record producer) to Flood (producer) as the result of a move request. --Stemonitis 08:30, 29 May 2007 (UTC)

Grammy winner

Flood is listed in the "Grammy award winners" category. Someone should mention his award(s) in the article. I'd do it but I don't know what he's won! 70.189.71.32 05:08, 10 September 2007 (UTC)

Pseudonym section

What makes these the three worth mentioning? Only one is truly specific, and none of them are mutually exclusive. In-fact they all seem to confirm one another. Tea made, Tea spilt, Tea Smithed. So what we basically have is that Robert Smith dubbed him, and all other sources didn't think ol' blaise-named Smith was notable enough that he named Flood for tea but that he was named due to tea was. 67.171.248.22 (talk) 09:17, 9 September 2010 (UTC)

Seven Hertz

The reference to Mark being vocalist for Seven Hertz is incorrect. Seven Hertz was a band formed while he was still in secondary school, and he was the rhythm guitarist. I was at school with him and Dick Jones, who was the drummer, and Dick tells me the lead vocalist was Dave Rimmer. Of course Dick's and my memories can't be cited as a source, but as it stands this is unsourced. Mike Christie (talk - contribs - library) 08:12, 9 June 2022 (UTC)
