Talk:Flag of Maldives

Latest comment: 2 days ago by Old Naval Rooftops in topic Requested move 14 May 2024

Now writing this was fun, not to mention educative!! Anyway, I have this image of a War Flag (of the Maldives) with three horizontal bars of blue, white and green and I was wondering if it is relevant to this article. Do let me know your views. Oh, and the article still needs a 'modern use' section, I believe. So if anybody has some free time, please contribute. --Fizan 12:57, 7 September 2005 (UTC)Reply

There is no reason it (the war flag) cannot be used under sub-section History --Oblivious 03:14, 8 September 2005 (UTC)Reply

Ok...but I have no idea on its origin or meaning. Would be great if somebody knows. By the way, check out the history of the crescent found on the flag. I was suprised to know that it originally had nothing to do with Islam. It was in fact a symbol of an ancient Celtic Goddess (of the Hunt) as described in the early pages of Edward Rutherfurd's Sarum. (Really good book, I am reading it now). --Fizan 05:16, 8 September 2005 (UTC)Reply

Fair use rationale for Image:Flagtill03.PNG edit

Image:Flagtill03.PNG is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Requested move 14 May 2024 edit

Flag of MaldivesFlag of the Maldivesthe should be added between "of" and "Maldives", ex. Flag of the United Kingdom, Flag of the United States, Flag of the Philippines. even though "the" is a redirect to this page, it should be included. Flag of Maldives actually need to be a redirect. • Support move. The country is the Maldives more often than not. This reverts an undiscussed move from 2022. (Whether the main article should be moved to The Maldives is a separate matter.) O.N.R. (talk) 20:12, 14 May 2024 (UTC)Reply
