Article quality edit

Hello.

I am ashamsed of this wikipedia page.

It presents me the same problems I find with all other webpages and with fishermans friend itself and so therefore I need to: dispute the neutrality of this page, and say it needs work to meet wikipedia's standards.

1. Where is the complete ingredients list and the links to ingredients that are considered dangerous by some? 2. Why does it read like an advert for the product - only listing good things: Some flavours are sugar-free, for which the bags are striped, Fisherman's Friend lozenges are also suitable for vegetarians and vegans, etc but leaves out any mention of if these things may not be good for ADHD people, etc

So yes I am not neutral, I was searching this item in wikipedia to do an illustrative graphic to show what ALL the ingredients are and how the packaging, use of font etc, hides to full story even while promoting the "good features" —Preceding unsigned comment added by 41.208.249.240 (talkcontribs) 22:28, 2 January 2008

Earwax edit

EARWAX- Pretty sure that this should be "beeswax" and not "earwax". —Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.127.155.2 (talk) 21:37, 25 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for spotting the vandalism. It was added rather than altered from "beeswax", so I've just deleted it. You can help us Wikipedia by correcting mistakes yourself - be bold! --McGeddon (talk) 22:55, 25 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

Ive just come across the same thing, it says earwax instead of beeswax, 87.102.127.221 (talk) 15:58, 22 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

Vegetarian? edit

I'm confused by this article - it says they're suitable for vegetarians, but also says the Original Lozenges contain gelatine. Both can't be true. Perhaps the original formulation contains or contained gelatine but certain ones now don't? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Gymnophoria (talkcontribs) 16:50, 10 January 2010 (UTC)Reply

I have a packet of Original Extra Strong Menthol in front of me as I type, and according to the ingredients list, the thickeners are Dextrin, and Gum Tragacanth, both of which apparently come from plant sources. So yes; Fisherman's Friends are vegetarian-friendly.

Anesthetic effect edit

I may be mistaken, but I seem to remember that Fisherman's Friend lozenges in the 1980s also included a small amount of benzocaine to help relieve throat irritation and soreness. Is there any evidence or documentation for that? — QuicksilverT @ 21:59, 27 January 2014 (UTC)Reply

None seem to be working as of this time/date. Any chance of someone having a look to see why (or if it's just me...)? Peridon (talk) 18:21, 14 September 2014 (UTC)Reply

variations edit

no mention of the fact that only the "original extra strong" ones are actually useful for the stated purpose of helping a fisherman (or anyone with a stuffed nose)? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 27.33.100.29 (talk) 11:47, 23 November 2017 (UTC)Reply
