GA Reassessment edit

Article (edit | visual edit | history) · Article talk (edit | history) · Watch
As part of WikiProject Good Articles Project quality task force, I am re-reviewing this article to ensure compliance with the current good article criteria. I am putting the article on hold for the reasons outlined below:

  • Images do not meet non-free content criteria. There's a total of six nonfree images, but though they all have fair use rationales many are merely decorative rather than the subject of critical commentary as required.
  • Coverage: There is next to nothing in reception, either of the original game or its remakes. That's a huge gap in coverage.

I will put the article on hold for seven days to wait for action towards addressing my concerns. --Der Wohltemperierte Fuchs (talk) 21:11, 15 June 2009 (UTC)Reply

Cleaned up the images some, want to put a screenshot of the original game (not the menu) back in there to better contrast between it and the DS version. How's that sound?
I should have the reception section finished later tonight. I wouldn't hold out for reception of the original release that much though, it's next to impossible without speaking japanese and having access to the printed magazines made at the time.--Kung Fu Man (talk) 01:17, 16 June 2009 (UTC)Reply
Okay, it's got reception. Anything else would probably just be repeating what's already said.--Kung Fu Man (talk) 01:44, 16 June 2009 (UTC)Reply
May I ask what File:FFIIIDScast.jpg adds, if anything? --Der Wohltemperierte Fuchs (talk) 19:14, 18 June 2009 (UTC)Reply
Sorry for the delay, been busy. As for the question it illustrates the cast of the DS game, since the accompanied paragraphs give minimal details to such.--Kung Fu Man (talk) 00:42, 21 June 2009 (UTC)Reply
I'm not really sure that's enough to meet WP:NFCC. It's not like their costumes are a major part of the game or of any critical commentary found in the article. --Der Wohltemperierte Fuchs (talk) 01:38, 26 June 2009 (UTC)Reply
Well we could go ahead and nix it then, though in the current form it is the only DS-related image now (the battle screenshot, which really didn't add anything in retrospect, was removed in favor of the NES one). Your call, are we good to go on the rest though?--Kung Fu Man (talk) 01:43, 26 June 2009 (UTC)Reply
←Kinda' forgot about this review until recently, I'll have to run through it this weekend and get back to you. --Der Wohltemperierte Fuchs (talk) 01:56, 26 June 2009 (UTC)Reply
Wouldn't a picture that compares the DS ver. to the NES ver. be more appropriate than the four characters? - The New Age Retro Hippie used Ruler! Now, he can figure out the length of things easily. 12:34, 28 June 2009 (UTC)Reply
What exactly would it illustrate though? "This is your battle, this is your battle in 3D. Any questions?" It just doesn't really give anything new to the article in that sense.--Kung Fu Man (talk) 12:41, 28 June 2009 (UTC)Reply
We could show a world map image compared to another world map image, showing how it's grown, but also demonstrating how similar they are to each other. - The New Age Retro Hippie used Ruler! Now, he can figure out the length of things easily. 23:14, 28 June 2009 (UTC)Reply
The problem with comparison images is that they aren't really good in keeping with NFCC; if you've got one gameplay image, another, even of a diff platform release, isn't significantly increasing reader understanding to the degree necessary. --Der Wohltemperierte Fuchs (talk) 01:04, 29 June 2009 (UTC)Reply
Image issue aside the article is much better, IMO enough to meet current GA standards. Passing. --Der Wohltemperierte Fuchs (talk) 18:10, 1 July 2009 (UTC)Reply
