Anybody know what the A stands for? The R is for Riduttori - reduced, meaning reduction geared. I suspect that it means unsupercharged but i have no proof.--Petebutt (talk) 17:22, 14 December 2012 (UTC)Reply

Thompson explains R as in Petebutt's note, C for Compressiore (supercharged). Jane's does record the outputs at SL and at 3,000 m (600/550 hp), which it does not do for e.g. the A.24, perhaps indirectly supporting the A for 'alta'. Cautionary note on A: there was another Fiat engine, the A.25 which had an A.25 A.Q. variant. According to Thompson this stood for 'Alta Quota' or High Output. So high something but not necessarily altitude.TSRL (talk) 10:51, 15 December 2012 (UTC)Reply

Number of carburettors and their arrangement edit

The description states two between the banks, each serving one bank. Ignoring the fact that this sort of arrangement makes no sense at all, the picture in my opinion shows three carburettors each serving four cylinders (two in each bank).
