Notability edit

Under section 6(Is an ensemble which contains two or more independently notable musicians, or is a musician who has been a member of two or more independently notable ensembles) of http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Notability_%28music%29 I believe this page should be exempt from speedy deletion. Yes, but where is the second musician? --Riotrocket8676 You gotta problem with that? 02:23, 29 April 2010 (UTC)Reply

Also, I only see one other independently notable musical band. Two bands? --Riotrocket8676 You gotta problem with that? 02:25, 29 April 2010 (UTC)Reply

Collin Hegna (The Brian Jonestown Massacre), myself, Colin Sheridan (The High Violets), and Sebastian Bibb-Barrett (The Builders and the Butchers). Also, as a further note, having a wikipedia page is a requirement to have biographical information apper on Lala.com (http://www.lala.com/#artistinfo)Colin.sheridan (talk) 05:54, 29 April 2010 (UTC)Reply

Wikipedia isn't here to provide a way for you to be listed on Lala.com. Unless you can provide reliable sources showing you meet the notability requirements, the article will be deleted. ···日本穣? · 投稿 · Talk to Nihonjoe 06:27, 29 April 2010 (UTC)Reply

Ok, agree on the lala.com point, but I still feel Federale meets the notability requirements under part 6 listed above, especially when taking into account the disclaimer "Note that members of notable bands are redirected to the band's article, not given individual articles, unless they have demonstrated individual notability for activity independent of the band, such as solo releases. Members of two notable bands are generally notable enough for their own article." Unfortunately I am still learning wiki formatting and have not been able to redirect the pages I mentioned above.Colin.sheridan (talk) 07:03, 29 April 2010 (UTC)Reply

To continue on Notability

According to the Wikipedia:Notability (music): "A musician or ensemble (note that this includes a band, singer, rapper, orchestra, DJ, musical theatre group, etc.) is notable if it meets any one of the following criteria:

...

1. Has been the subject of multiple non-trivial published works whose source is independent from the musician or ensemble itself and reliable.[note 1] This criterion includes published works in all forms, such as newspaper articles, books, magazine articles, online versions of print media, and television documentaries except for the following: Any reprints of press releases, other publications where the musician or ensemble talks about themselves, and all advertising that mentions the musician or ensemble, including manufacturers' advertising. Works comprising merely trivial coverage, such as articles that simply report performance dates, release information or track listings, or the publications of contact and booking details in directories. An article in a school or university newspaper (or similar) would generally be considered trivial but should be evaluated on a case-by-case basis."

Federale has been featured in:

A review in Willamette Week

A review in The Portland Mercury

(both added as sources for content provided on page)

These articles are both online archives of print articles. Both the Willamette Week and The Portland Mercury are considered notable enough in their own right to have wikipedia articles written about them. Additionally, these are not student publications. The articles were not in any way written by band members.Colin.sheridan (talk) 07:33, 29 April 2010 (UTC)Reply
