30 Hour or 40 Hour? edit

It seems 30 Hour Famine is more popular than 40 Hour Famine. There are more countries that hold 30 Hour Famine than 40 Hour Famine. For example, I already know Hong Kong holds 30 Hour Famine every year, and there should be many other countries doing so. How come 30 Hour Famine becomes a subtopic for 40 Hour Famine? I don't know, but I agree with you. I've never heard of the 40 Hour Famine, but I hear about the 30 Hour Famine.. everywhere. I really think this should be redirected.. or have a disambig link/page somewhere. Disinclination 05:16, 7 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

If you could all help me, I re-created the 30 Hour Famine article, but I need help finding reliable sources about it. So if you could help, that would be great. Disinclination 04:18, 10 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

In the UK we have 24 Hour Famine, I think we need one page to discuss all of these rather than having separate pages (ie 24 Hour Famine, 30 Hour Famine, 40 Hour Famine), etc. Any suggestions as to what this page could be called? == Kneale 19:42, 10 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

Hm. I'll have to come back to you on that. The only reason I created a new page was cause is seems the two were so vastly different. Plus, the origin of the famine listed for the 30 Hour Famine seems to never have existed. In fact, I found a completely different history on the World Vision Canada website. I suppose its a question of which came first? I'm not sure. Maybe.. World Vision Famine Events? -- Disinclination 07:11, 11 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

Adjustments edit

I have moved all famine events into this one entry. I hope it's not controversial. I also tried to make several improvements. I have never done this event before, so I hope I don't run into NPOV issues (although I am going to try it out this year). AQu01rius (User • Talk) 02:38, 14 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

Woo hoo! Thank you. :) It looks wonderful. Disinclination 03:23, 14 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

Fair use rationale for Image:30hourfamine.gif edit

Image:30hourfamine.gif is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

24 hour famine section edit

I understand this is a UK event, and since I don't live in the UK, I know nothing about it. The original heading said "40 Hour Famine" but the first sentence began with "24 Hour Famine", which I've read elsewhere so I've changed that heading. Also edited for clarity and grammar and stuck in some reference requests. Hopefully a native UKer can provide some extra detail. HonkyTonkHarlot (talk) 07:36, 13 September 2011 (UTC)Reply
