Talk:Family tree of Scottish monarchs

Untitled edit

A couple of minor points: the tree for the House of Dunkeld notes that Margaret Atheling (queen to King Malcolm III) and Edgar Atheling were "Brothers" whereas they were of course siblings. Edgar Atheling himself is described as "king of England" whereas it's arguable that he was only king-elect of England. Stuarts 1625-1707 edit

There were monarchs of Scotland until 1707 (after 1603 they were also monarchs of England, which was a separate position). Because of this, would it be possible to extend this family tree as far as Queen Anne? This might also be the family tree to give the family trees of the Jacobite pretenders (descendants of James VII), they were the last members of the Scottish royal line. Problems with article edit

Two problems with this page, one major, one minor. Major - Edward Balliol was never King of Scotland, yet his name is in bold in the family tree. Secondly, Robert II's surname (and subsequent descendents) was spelled "Stewart." It was only after 1603 when James 6th became James 1st of England that the spelling was changed the "Stuart." —Preceding unsigned comment added by Hist student 594 (talkcontribs) 19:42, 28 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

I've partially made an imagemap:

Isabella of Dunkeld, wife of Robert de Ros edit

  • Magna Carta ancestry: a study in colonial and medieval families by Douglas Richardson, Kimball G. Everingham confirms that Isabella was the illegitimate daughter of William the Lion by a mistress, daughter of Richard Avenel who married Robert de Ros. Google eBook

Therefore the controversy is being taken off that page -- someone needs to update the Wikipedia royal family trees obviously or re-arrange them so they can actually be edited if they are incorrect; the use of reliable sources is needed for this page as the 'no sources or references' has been on this page since May 2007! -- Lady Meg (talk) 03:34, 18 May 2011 (UTC)Reply

Move discussion in progress edit

There is a move discussion in progress on Talk:French monarchs family tree which affects this page. Please participate on that page and not in this talk page section. Thank you. —RMCD bot 09:15, 1 July 2019 (UTC)Reply

Mormaers of Moray edit

Would it be a good idea to show the family tree of the Moravian Mormaers on the list, since apparently both Macbeth and Gillecomgain were grandsons of Ruaidri. Furthermore, the title Earl isn't use for Scottish Mormaers at the time. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 218.190.197.45 (talk) 08:59, 12 October 2020 (UTC)Reply
