Episode order cut edit

From checking archives for the usenet newsgroup rec.arts.tv, it looks like the episode order for this series was cut from the "back-9" full-season order of 22 episodes to something on the order to 14–16 episodes around Nov. 19 or 20, 2002. Unfortunately, I can't find a reliable source online that reports or confirms this development – if anyone finds such a source, please either add it to the article, or report the source's details here! Thanks in advance. --IJBall (contribstalk) 02:34, 18 April 2018 (UTC)Reply

@IJBall: I found this:
  • The unexpected opportunity to pick up "Grounded" spurred the WB to cut episode orders of two other new comedies, "Do Over" and "Family Affair," by three, to a total of 19 instead of 22. The comedies have delivered fractional ratings in the Thursday 8-9 p.m. slot against NBC's "Friends" and CBS' "Survivor: Thailand." But a WB rep said both shows will be relaunched in the near future in different time slots.[1]
So there must have been another cut later down to the 16? -- Netoholic @ 08:57, 18 April 2018 (UTC)Reply
@Netoholic: Yeah, according to the posts I read in rec.arts.tv, it seems like that was what happened: on Nov. 19, the order was cut by three, and then the very next day (Nov. 20), the order cut was upped to 7(?) episodes cut. I still need to check if U.S.C.O. to confirm that 16 episodes were produced – if there were, then the episode order was actually cut by 6... Anyway, thank you for digging up this reference! At least it's something!! --IJBall (contribstalk) 12:48, 18 April 2018 (UTC)Reply
Found another source for the three-episode cut: [1] --IJBall (contribstalk) 13:17, 18 April 2018 (UTC)Reply

I think I got it! [2] That confirms that the order was indeed cut back to 15 episodes – I'll check later today to see if a 16th episode was still somehow produced... --IJBall (contribstalk) 13:20, 18 April 2018 (UTC)Reply

OK, if the one-hour pilot was counted as "one episode", that does leave "15 episodes". And the U.S. Copyright Office database, seems to confirm this... --IJBall (contribstalk) 15:28, 18 April 2018 (UTC)Reply

Space Invaders airing? edit

In regards to this, while I've found a few TV listings indicating that "Space Invaders" was scheduled to air on March 20, 2003.[3], I've not found any indication of ratings for the episode - in fact the Hollywood Reporter ratings article for that week shows a Sabrina repeat in that time slot. This likely indicates the episode was pulled at the last-minute and subsequently never aired. Turns out March 19/20, 2003 was also the launch of the 2003 invasion of Iraq. Probably a good time to pull a poorly-performing show and replace it with something a bit more popular as an alternative to war coverage on the major networks. -- Netoholic @ 09:08, 25 March 2021 (UTC)Reply
