I had been hoping someone would help me edit this and some have, but missed the references (as have I first time around). After seeing the WikiWorld cartoon I figured the article needs to be cleaned up. I did what I could and added some references. Hope this helps. Definitely. Tom Mason standing in for the deceased Lugosi is one of the most notable Fake Shemp occurrences ever, and fits in exactly with the original definition. It should definitely be mentioned. So, in the recent Star Wars film "Rogue One", isn't Moff Tarkin played by a fake Shemp (live actor plus CGI of Peter Cushing, who played Tarkin in the original film). What about the final scene with Princess Leia (stand in actor filmed from the back, and (badly) CGI'd young Carrie Fisher's face when she turns around). Seems to me perfect examples of fake Shemp that would be familiar to those who might not be as familiar with some of the older works mentions. 66.170.243.1 (talk) 16:16, 10 April 2017 (UTC)

References needed

This article needs references to reliable sources to show that this is actually a notable term. As it is, most of the references are to other Wikipedia pages, which are not considered reliable; nor is Urban Dictionary or an IMDB credits page. As it is, the article is basically original research - if better references can't be found, it should be re-nominated for deletion. Robofish (talk) 15:53, 4 February 2010 (UTC)

Oliver Reed in Gladiator

I'm no expert on this, but it seems like Gladiator deserves a mention in this article. Oliver Reed died during production so some shots used a stand-in for his character.
