Fair use rationale for Image:ESC1979.jpg edit

Image:ESC1979.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 03:00, 3 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

New Zealand Television edit

A request has been made for page protection because of the removal of

"Although New Zealand has never actually participated in this contest, colour television was introduced in that country for this particular occasion."

This sentence is fine as long as a source is provided, but seeing that there isn't one and the claim that the sentence makes, it should be omitted, so I will take it out now. Grk1011/Stephen (talk) 02:23, 29 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

On the subject of colour television - this was also the first thing Israeli television broadcast in colour - and it showed, as the pictures kept cutting to black-and-white at times.

Three-language voting edit

This was the first of three years in which three-language voting was tried. The female presenter spoke good French, the male presenter good English. Both were able to repeat the scores, not only in the other language but also in Hebrew. Most of the country names were recognisable in Hebrew, except France, Greece and Spain.

The attempts at three-language voting in 1983 and 1991 were not nearly as successful. EmleyMoor (talk) 20:59, 13 May 2011 (UTC)Reply

Turkey edit

Lies, lies. The reason that turkey did not participate was because it was held in jerusalem, which was an occupied city. The article claims that because turkey was a muslim singing not wanting to sing in a jewish country, nonsense. Greek, a christian country, did not participate for the same reason. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.87.42.232 (talk) 02:48, 29 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

Greece was at the Jerusalem contest. Vauxhall1964 (talk) 00:06, 1 May 2012 (UTC)Reply

Turkey withdrew less than a month before the final, supposedly due to pressure from the Arab world that it would not be suitable for a muslim nation to take part in an event in Israel.

"Gali Atari and Milk and Honey" edit

Presently, the table here, as well as on Israel in the Eurovision Song Contest, lists "Gali Atari and Milk and Honey" as the Israeli entry. However, at the time of the competition, Gali Atari was part of Milk and Honey, and "Milk and Honey" was credited as the artist on the night. The same is currently the case for the contest's entry on the Eurovision website. Should the entry be revised? Lordtobi () 16:32, 30 May 2019 (UTC)Reply

I agree. Let's wait a few days to see if anyone else has any input before changing it. Grk1011 (talk) 15:13, 31 May 2019 (UTC)Reply
Been 14 days, going bold. Lordtobi () 22:45, 12 June 2019 (UTC)Reply
Done, and cleaned up a lot of links along the way. Honestly surprised people do not regularly confuse Milk and Honey (group) with Milk & Honey (group). Lordtobi () 00:11, 13 June 2019 (UTC)Reply
