The facts may need to be checked. Alexander Hamilton did not support Essex Junto's plan for secession.

-These people wanted to take N.E. out of the country and make it a providence of Canada. They approached Aaron Burr to run for governor and to then remove N.E. from the United States. It failed and this is what lead to the duel between Burr and Alexander Hamilton.

I changed the section about Aaron Burr, as he never supported the Essex Junto and turned them down. The page incorrectly stated that Burr participated and Hamilton foiled the plan. I checked the sources at the bottom of this page and they do not implicate Burr. Nancy Isenberg specifically refutes this claim with quotes in her book Fallen Founder.
